Resolution being brought before the PWC GOP Convention tomorrow
I intend to introduce the following resolution at the PWC GOP convention tomorrow:
A RESOLUTION TO HONOR POPE JOHN PAUL THE GREAT IN THE DIOCESE OF ARLINGTON
WHEREAS, the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, was a shining beacon of God’s love, hope and freedom for more than a quarter of a century to over one billion Catholics worldwide and millions upon millions of others as well; and
WHEREAS, Pope John Paul II served as not only a great religious leader, but a moral leader who was steadfast in defending the dignity of the human person; and
WHEREAS, Pope John Paul II had the ability to reach out to people from every culture and from every nation; and
WHEREAS, Pope John Paul II shared a very special and deep bond with young people; and
WHEREAS, Pope John Paul II throughout his life was a scholar, athlete and member of the performing arts; and
WHEREAS, Pope John Paul II by exhibiting these attributes offered a well-rounded role model for young people to follow as they learn and grow; and
WHEREAS, the Diocese of Arlington plans to open a new Catholic high school in Prince William County on the Cherry Hill peninsula in August 2008; and
WHEREAS, the Catholic high school will have a curriculum that focuses on biotechnology, the ethical implications of which Pope John Paul II addressed in Evangelium Vitae; and
WHEREAS, tomorrow, April 2, 2006, marks the one year anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we, the Prince William County Republican Committee, hereby endorse naming the planned Catholic high school in Prince William County in honor of Pope John Paul the Great.

I LOVE IT.
I endorse the sentiment (John Paul II may be the greatest single personage of my now lengthy lifetime), but I have not the slightest idea why the PW Republican Committee should say diddly about this.
Riley, according to rule 3.D of the convention:
D. As required in the Call, all Resolutions are required to be submitted to the Resolutions Committee by 6:00 p.m., 23 March 2006, in order to be considered.
Your wording of your post suggested you were going to move this at the meeting, but it certainly could be that you submitted it ahead of time.
