Dems Nominate Jeff Dion for Occoquan Supervisor

The PWC Dems have their nominee for Occoquan Supervisor and it is, as we previously speculated, Jeff Dion.

Mr. Dion has already responded here on Virtucon to another comment by one of the  candidates for the GOP nomination for that seat, John Gray.  It seems that while Mr. Dion does indeed own property in Occoquan, some including Mr. Gray are contending that it is not his actual residence and that he instead allegedly lives in Alexandria.  (For the record, Mr. Dion previously resided in the Fairfax County part of Alexandria in a community called Amberleigh where he served as HOA president which may or may not explain things.)  I think the facts are clear that Mr. Dion is the owner of record of the Occoquan property.  I don’t have enough information one way or the other regarding his primary residence, though, to say whether he indeed spends most of his time at his Occoquan home or whether we are seeing a repeat of some recent unpleasantness in the county.  I hope that this question can be put to rest sooner rather than later and the important issues facing PWC families can be addressed by the candidates.

On October 4, 1994, My wife and I purchased a townhome at 6456 Brickleigh Ct in the subdivision of Amberleigh in the Kingstowne section of Fairfax County. I served as President of the Amberleigh HOA for five years. When we divorced, I transfered title to her alone.

In January 2002, I purchased my property in Lake Ridge and I have lived there ever since. In August 2002, my former wife sold the townhouse in Alexandria and purchased a single family home in Lake Ridge. Being a half-mile apart facilitates our shared custody arrangement.

Mr. Riley, I’d be happy to have you visit my home and see that it is lived in and introduce you to my neighbors who can see my children and me eating dinner at the kitchen table through their window.

John Gray was wrong about me not owing property in Lake Ridge. He was wrong about me not being President of a Condo Assn in Lake Ridge, so what credibility does he have other than a bald-faced allegation? Where is it in Alexandria that I supposedly live? I work for a non-profit and live in the best home I can afford. I certainly can’t afford more than one. My church is here, My kids attend school here, we go to cub scouts here, my kids play soccer for Lake Ridge, so why commute from Alexandria? So how shall we take attendance? Can John Gray, Mike May and I all get ankle bracelets and be home by kurfew?

  2. R.T. Molleur

Whoa another lawyer? Is he as sharp as Wally “Loophole” Covington?*

    * use the authority that allows the BOCS to extend an INDIVIDUAL rezoning one year and apply it to ALL rezonings en masse to justify his moratorium on all those pesky “due process” rezoning public hearings and at the same time help those evil developers unload their current stock of unsold houses!

Can I get a one year extension on paying my taxes Wally?

The PN even stated that Wally knows nothing about land use law. Priceless! No wonder he has yet to respond to my email asking:

Wally – do you consider your rezoning moratorium a “taking” and if not why not?

P.S. Covington’s moratorium was scripted by Stewart and his cohorts (including May, Gray and Hosen that run the Prince William Conservation Alliance).

Jeff, your word is good enough for me. Thank you for taking the time out to help put this matter to bed. As I always say, it is best to clear the air early when anyone starts putting forth such questions. I appreciate you doing so here.

Of course, John Gray could have taken the trouble to check his facts. But fact checking, along with anger management, along with basic civility, along with a actually having a real political philosophy — as opposed to joining whatever political party gives one the best chance for getting elected — are not among John Gray’s strong points.

Not always inclined to agree with R.T. Molleur, but he’s got a point here. There are a scary number of Prince William Conservation Alliance members or lackeys holding office, running or, planning to run. They’ve already got Stewart, Stirrup, and now it seems, Covington in their pocket. Their running May and Gray, and there’s word that Hosen and Freedman are gearing up, though it’s unclear for what party.
