Will Webb talk about “Class Struggle” during his SOTU response?

I sincerely hope that Sen. Jim “Thinskin” Webb (D-WashPo) gets into his whole notion of “Class Struggle” and economic fairness during his response to the President’s State of the Union address.  Heck, this is the guy who was going around quoting Karl Marx on the campaign trail.

Getting in the WayBack Machine, here is a post I did on Allen’s A-Team during the campaign that is worthwhile reviewing:

What in the world is Jim Webb thinking referencing Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in a speech? Don’t just take AllenHQ’s word for it, The Nation magazine (a reliable far left-wing publication) says so as well as the Associated Press, which noted that Webb “laced his speech with paraphrases of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.” Yes, that Marx and Engels.

So, on the one hand you have Senator George Allen who quotes and paraphrases Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence. On the other hand, you have Jim Webb who looks to Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels for inspiration, the authors of the Communist Manifesto. That’s a pretty stark choice, Virginia. No wonder the Webbsters have been trying to keep Jim Webb from espousing any policy positions throughout this campaign. Just when you think the Webb campaign can’t get any stranger, they manage to top themselves once again. It seems that Webb just might be taking this “People’s Republic of Alexandria” thing a bit too literally. I wonder how long until Webb starts raving about Noam Chomsky books on the stump and accepts the endorsement of Hugo Chavez?

Well, Webb is now in the U.S. Senate and has the center stage spotlight to profess his discredited economic ravings. Let’s hear all about, “From each according to one’s ability and to each according to one’s needs.” That will go over really well.

Jim Webb — the new face of the Democrat Party with the same old tired ideas. Webb combines the peace at any cost position of the 1864 Democrats under their nominee George McClellan with the economic ineptitude of their 1896 candidate William Jennings Bryan.

  1. My theory is Reid picked Webb for this to give him an excuse to keep Webb out of the chamber when Bush is there — because you never know when Webb is going to make good on his threat to try to deck the commander-in-chief.

  2. [...] I just knew it.  Webb is going to start paraphrasing Karl Marx tonight just like he did on the campaign trail. As I said before, Virginia’s embarassment is about to become a national one. Let the ridicule begin. [...]

  3. [...] country.  Pimping a new non-fiction, non-porn book (complete with all his nutty class warfare, Marxist economic ideas.)  All the while, he is saying… he would “highly discourage” anyone from asking [...]
