Congressman Jim Moran, another Committee member, predicts the Committee action will be the “bite” that follows this week’s Congressional “bark” – the three-day debate on a non-binding Congressional resolution.
The Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense has begun consideration of the president’s $93 billion supplemental appropriations request for Iraq. Action on the request will be the first opportunity for the new Congress to exercise its “power-of-the-purse” over the Iraq war.
Chairman Murtha will describe his strategy for not only limiting the deployment of troops to Iraq but undermining other aspects of the president’s foreign and national security policy. Representative Jack Murtha is an idiot who is more intent on slamming George W. Bush than protecting U.S. Troops. The American people are in one accord when it comes to our soldiers. Murtha, on the other hand, has an “engage mouth, disengage brain” reaction to everything President Bush is trying to do to win in Iraq. I find his latest effort to thwart the surge in troops to be ridiculous and childish. I hope that voters from Murtha’s district will contact his office and remind him of his duty to support the American troops in Iraq.
Murtha looks even worse when you consider that as a preliminary matter, the surge is woking. Sadr has gone running for protection in Iran, severely damaging his street cred and undermining the strength of the Mahdi Army. On the other side of the Sunni-Shiite coin, the Al-Qaeda in Iraq commander was wounded and his operational chief killed in a shoot out with US Forces in Northern Bagdhad.
Murtha is a corrupt liar. To call him a scumbag would be to insult scumbags, who generally have more integrity than the Congressman who has used his office to pad the pockets of his brother Kit and to amass a small fortune for himself in the process.
