Webb’s a winner of the silver star who was medically discharged as the result of the wounds he sustained while winning his medal (and saving his buddies and accomplishing his mission).
Keep on attacking decorated veterans: you show your stripes every time you do.
All I’m saying is, according to the standard that Jim Webb set himself, he doesn’t understand war because he supported a timetable.
No one is taking away from Webb’s decorations. That doesn’t mean we can’t question his judgment today or such glaring inconsistencies in his own positions.
Being a brave soldier and a good junior officer does not make one a decent strategist. In fact, there are a lotof senior officers who should never be allowed near a strategy session (paging the incompetent Admiral Crowe). But besides that obvious point, Webb just contradicted himself. I am sorry, are we supposed to ignore this glaring contradiction because Senator Ginger was a good junior officer thirty years ago?
