It seems that Mitt Romney has been on both sides of just about every issue depending upon the year and the electorate he was courting. Now, we finally find the one issue that Liberal Mitt and Conservative Mitt have been consistent on — their opposition to the flat tax.

“Romney Calls Flat Tax Unfair“
I could probably forgive Romney for flip-flopping on the issues and moving to the right. As I’ve mentioned before, a trusted friend and Republican activist in Massachusetts who has known Romney for years told me that Romney has always been a closet social conservative. But as someone who holds taxes on par with social issues in matters of importance (not to mention having worked on the campaign that Romney attacked in ‘96), I find his continued assaults upon the flat tax as “unfair” using Ted Kennedy-style class warfare arguments to be beyond the pale. Romney is rapidly gaining on McCain in Virtucon nonendorsement points.
