Greg L. over at BVBL is speculating about whether Woodbridge Supervisor Hilda Barg will retire this year. He relates word that Barg is supposedly going to announce this week that she’ll be retiring and Frank Principi will be running for the Democrat nod. We’ve done some digging and have come up with the following regarding Principi that would point to the likelihood that he’d make a run.
Principi is a recent grad of the Sorensen Institute, commonly viewed as a stepping stone to running for office.
Is this the new Democrat candidate for Woodbridge Supervisor?
Principi was appointed last July to the Prince William County Future Commission 2030 and serves as its chairman. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Council No. 8183 in Lake Ridge and was PTO representative at Aquinas School for 2004-2005. He was previously involved with the Dawson Landing Homeowners Association, attended the Community Leadership Institute, was a member of the Prince William County Board of Equalization and served as a contributor to VA EDGE (Virginia Coalition to End Discrimination in General Services for Education.) This organization pushed for the school bus bill that Virtucon supported and was recently signed into law. (Something tells me this won’t endear Principi to the nutroots faction of the Dem party.)
He is Managing Partner at Crisis Partners International in Vienna, which lists his bio as follows:
Mr. Principi has worked extensively in the emergency management, crisis management, and homeland security field for two decades. In the National Capitol Region, Mr. Principi has worked for the US House of Representatives, National Governors Association, District of Columbia, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency. Mr. Principi is a certified chemical and hazardous materials specialist.
His background prior to this:
Vice President
Marsh & McLennan
(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; MMC; Management Consulting industry)
January 1998 – Present (9 years 4 months)
Crisis Management Consultant
Director
National Governors Association
Non-Profit; 201-500 employees; Public Policy industry)
2000 – 2001 (1 year)
Director
American Chemistry Council
(Non-Profit; 201-500 employees; Management Consulting industry)
1989 – 1998 (9 years)
Senior Legislative Assistant
US House of Representatives
(Government Agency; 10,001 or more employees; Legislative Office industry)
September 1984 – June 1989 (4 years 10 months)
UCLA – BA, Political Science, American History, 1984
Overall, that looks like a pretty solid background. Certainly better than any of the other potential Dem candidates for the seat.
Whoever wins the Dem nod will face Republican Chris Royse in November. Royse has an even more impressive background, so it would appear that Woodbridge will be suffering from an embarassment of riches should these two face off.
Royse has been endorsed by Virginia Virtucon and is one of our Red Storm Virginia candidates. Please be sure to help Chris in whatever way you can.

[...] UPDATE 2: Virtucon has more here. [...]
He lives in Woodbridge but goes to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton? Unusual. I wonder why. Any idea whether he previously lived in Lake Ridge?
Also, any info on who he was legislative assistant to from 84 to 89?
I think that may just be the Knights of Columbus council that he belongs to. Perhaps his parrish doesn’t have a council of its own.
No idea yet on who he worked for, but we’ll keep digging.
Our Lady of Angels has KoC.
Unlike many Protestant denominations, one commonly belongs to the local Catholic Church. Most people from Wdbg don’t go to Seton (and vice versa). Of course, if they used to live in Lake Ridge, then it wouldn’t be unusual that they would continue to attend there.

His employer Crisis Partners Int’l needs to be scrutinized. I have review the site and it does not appear to be a legitimate enterprise. A number of the full time employees seem to have other full time jobs. I would be very interested to learn exactly who they work for, that is if they actually do government work.
