Hindsight is 20/20
The usual chatter about former Gov. Marky Mark making a political comeback is out and about again following a talk with some biased left-wing professor’s class at UVA.
Marky Mark is certainly welcome to try, but he’ll quickly discover that hindsight is 20/20 and with a clear view of his record as governor now available, people might finally see him for the mediocrity that he was. They’ll be interested to learn of his administration’s Enron-style accounting that misplaced $137 million meant for education and thought that a surplus was really a deficit that required a $1.4 billion tax increase - his sole “accomplishment” as governor. They’ll be reminded of his utter failure to get either of his tax hike schemes approved by the voters.
Heck, some people might even start questioning why he so abruptly pulled the plug on his presidential campaign after he was setting up offices, lining up staff and donors and becoming viewed as THE alternative (pre-Obama) to Hillary. Shady business dealings when he was setting up his cell phone franchise where he made his millions? Or maybe the information on Warner compiled by Hillary’s hit team led by Howard Wolfson (and that has now fallen into GOP hands) might surface. Those “family reasons” why Warner dropped out of the ‘08 presidential race are just waiting in the vault for him to try and run again.
So, by all means, go ahead and put up Marky Mark as a candidate again. We’ll be ready.

Remember what Bill Bolling said on BDRadio? I believe this is the quote:
When you look at the Warner Administration, it reminds me a bit of that scene out of the Wizard of Oz - everyone is in awe of the omipotent wizard and then finally Dorothy’s little dog Toto pulls back the curtain and we see that wizard is not as omnipotent as a lot of people think. Frankly, I think when you pull the curtain back on the Warner Administration the story is not as great as alot of people want to make it seem. That was an administration that was, in large part, built upon a lie. Mark Warner promised the people of Virginia in his campaign that he wouldn’t raise taxes. And then when he got elected he did nothing but try to raise taxes and ultimately successfully so. However at the same time he presided over the largest tax increase in the history of Virginia, he did not direct one red cent of additional money to the most pressing need of Virignia in his administration and in Virginia, and thats transportation. And on top of that he left our colleges and universities underfunded and as a result we’ve seen tuition for in-state students go up 50-60-70% since he left office. So Mark Warner is a formidable candidate, but look, that story is not as rosey as people think and whoever the Republican nominee is in 2009 I think we got some stuff to talk about.”

Tim Kaine’s incompitence has helped bring back the fight in the Republican Party. Warner has some explaining to do on a couple of issues–first of which is why he raised taxes but failed to send send one cent of it to transportation? And why did $300 million suddenly show up in the budget 5 days after the tax hike vote?
