In recent days, I have noticed an increasing public presence by Joe Graziano and Jon Myers in the northern Stafford County portion of the 28th Senate Dist. I first spotted a number of large 4′x8′ Myers signs near the Route 610 interchange with I-95. Excellent placement for maximum coverage. A few days or so later, I spotted some 4′x8′ Graziano signs along Route 1 that were very well positioned, too.
Both these candidates are off to a great start in this regard. Myers included the date of the firehouse primary atop his signs, so while that would make them useless in the general election, that key extra piece of information might help him to reach it. (Myers is also promoting the various polling places on his website.) Given the lack of attention most of the general public is giving to this race at this point, anyone not following this race closely at this point would think it was between Graziano and Myers. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out in the end on May 19.

Myers has also been all over the papers in both Stafford and the other counties of the district. The guy apparently knows how to campaign.
Check out today’s Journal Press headline. http://www.journalpress.com
Only Myers and Stuart showed up for the Westmoreland meeting??? And that article said that Stuart showed up late. What were Graziano and Van Hoy thinking??? Guess voters in Westmoreland don’t matter to them. Once again, Myers has outclassed all of the other candidates. Just another reason why he has my vote.
It appears that Van Hoy is taking the approach that he is the nominee and does not need to campaign aggressively. again, this i just an observation based on the lack of signs and skipping the westmoreland forum. his mailers have been pretty regular though so maybe he has some info that this is what works best. I have also seen a Myers mailer but nothing from the other two.
Does anyone know if Stafford is having a forum? I haven’t seen and news of such
Semper Fi – Yes a Stafford Forum is being arranged. I have to double check the details – when I do I’ll make a post. I believe it is May 15 @ 7 PM at the Leeland Station Community Club House (55 Riggs Road, Stafford, VA)
Agreed. Myers or Graziano are the only contenders in this race in Stafford. VanHoy has some has-beens and Bolling in his camp, but not one local official wants him in office- wonder what they know about him- and is not the best candidate to actually do the job right, and has no conenciton with the people in the Northern Neck despite his massive mailings he’s doing to them.
Myers outclasses the others in a personal setting ( I went to the first debate). He’s is statesmanlike without appearing to be a know-it-all politician.
VanHoy is taking the election for granted just like the Democrat-Republican-Democrat Pollard-Stuart-Chichester-Pollard-Howell-Stuart-Pollard (I get them all confused now, which party and who exactly am I supposed to vote for?). That is why neither of them will win.
Myers signs are great and visible! I’ll bet they cost a bunch of money to make which is a reflection of his willingness to commit fully to his challenge. I like the guy more every time I see something about him. He’s pro-life, has great ideas for FUNDING roads not full of rhetoric, is pro-environment, pro-gun, a real family man, a combat vertan, anti-smoking, and anti-illegal-immigration.
What’s not to love about Myers as a conservative Republican??? I’ll bet Graziano comes in a close second though.

Myers can’t seem to follow the laws out there though. He has posted signs at commuter lots which is illegal. Is he a special case that doesn’t have to follow the rules?
Maybe Myers and his people are too stupid to know better? Yeah, great campaigner. Ignorance is no defense to the law.
DirknotJoe
I have seen the signs (and every other candidates for the past 10 years) at those lots. what is illegal? did we throw away the right to free speech? Why do we care? Why did i stoop to answering this?
Dirk=
Any sign posted on anything but a private property is illegal.
Even then- it’s almost always in violation of a sign ordinance (need a permit) or a residential zoning ordinance (no advertising on home land) and often a homeowner’s regulation (no signs on your yard becaus ethy don’t match the grass).
The trouble is that these rules violate your free speech to express yourself politically so long as it doesn’t hurt anyone or constitute a riot or protest (for which a permit needs to be applied for) and so long as the sign has who paid for it somewhere on it to cover the stand by your ad laws.
It’s a time honored tradition to place signs everywhere and it will never end, by all candidates of all levels of all parties.
You’ve obviously never actually volunteered in a campaign and done real leg work for them.
It’s also tresspassing to enter someone’s driveway to knock on their door to hand them a flyer, so please let me know when your group is planning on coming to my neighborhood so I can have you all arrested. Unless of course you’re too stupid to read my “No Tresspassing” signs I have illegally posted on my lawn?? or the “Violators will be Shot On Sight” signs. Take your pick.
So long as they are cleaned up promptly after an election and not blocking the view of a driver for safety reasons, I’ve never heard someone actually not like the practice. It’s fair for everyone until someone like you perhaps goes around and steals competitor’s signs?? That’s truly un American. I don’t have a problem with anyone posting signs in an easement area or right of way.
I do have a problem with censorship by legislation or someone so blatantly ignorant that they think a candidate who isn’t personally wealthy, beholden to a puppet-master or PAC, or handed a $100,000 endowment to buy the election from some good old boy, should be excluded from competing in the greatest system of government on Earth, all because you don’t like his signs or where they are placed.
Why not make a donation to your favorite candidate so they can have signs too, or better yet, why not donate equally to all four candidates so they can all have a newspaper ad the same size so they aren’t all forced to the ditches and streets to advertise since the media is so insanely expensive to use in the first place!
That being said- has anyone seen any signs for the other three candidates??? I’ve seen Myers signs all over Stafford CO, and MOSTLY in private yards I may add, but not a single one for anyone else.
Anon-
You smells his backers and endorsers. One of them owns Colonial Circuits which just so happens to be a polling location? What kind of back-room crap is that? Maybe that’s what you smell? It’s totally forgiveable if the site was volunteered long before the Moulton election process scandal was uncovered… but it sure seems coincidental. In the end, a site is just a site though, no one knows who’s button you push or handle you pull behind the curtain.
I would be much more concerned with Who is collecting the Ballots from 300 miles apart in a non-state sponsored election???!!! Seems to me that a clever person would figure a way to stuff the boxes while in the car from poll to poll.
Why aren’t these elections handled electronically with a paper printout as backup?? We are in 2007 for God’s sake!

Wow, what a tough guy. Only wimps make threats online. Sheesh.
Did you hear the latest? General Christmas is endorsing Jon Myers. I’d take that any day over Chichester. That’s quite a voter list right there. Myers is the one to watch.
Christmas is a great guy. He made the USMC Museum happen despite a number of obstacles and is admired by every Marine I know. Speaks well of Myers.
Can TOPCOP also find out who keeps sending me these Victoria Secret catalog’s…they are not helping my marriage.
Don’t you have anything to talk about?!
Myers is picking up endorsements left and right from what I read in the papers and hear.
His big miltary truck rumbled through Route 3 last night about 9pm and nearly rattled my house apart but it got me to look outside and see his sign for a few seconds so it was good advertising for him. I can surmise by his (or his people’s) willingness to work late on a Saturday that they are in it to win it. That’s the kind of candidate KG County needs to beat Pollard in November!!
I didn’t like the rumble too much, but in comparason, I was only bugged for a few seconds….. I can keep the birdcage floor covered for months with all the junk mail John Van Hoy has been sending me. If you’re reading this VanHoy- PLEASE STOP MAILING ME SO MUCH JUNK MAIL!
I GET IT- You’re willing to mail mail mail until you get the job done in Richmond for me and you’ll never stop licking stamps until taxes are low- or something or other message like that. JEEZ I hope this is over soon. I need more trash bags now.
Joe-Dirk – You can stick a sign in my yard anytime since you haven’t mailed me a thing. I appreciate your campaign of silence. I don’t think you’ll win but I’ll support you anyway! Are you aware that King George is in your district?
