There will be a forum held with the candidates for the Republican nomination in the 28th Senate district. This will most likely be the last such event featuring all 4 candidates prior to the May 19th Fire House Primary.
Here is the announcement from the Stafford County Republican Committee.
The Republican Party of Stafford County will be hosting a candidate’s forum on Tuesday, May 15th at 7 p.m. The location will be at the Leeland Station Clubhouse, 115 Riggs Rd, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
The purpose of the forum is to allow the public an opportunity to learn about each candidate who is running for the Republican nomination to the 28th Virginia Senate seat. The candidates will be asked to respond to questions from regional leaders on subjects including transportation, economic development, public safety, education, and family values. This will be the last opportunity to learn where each candidate stands on the issues before the Saturday, May 19 primary. The public in the Fredericksburg region is welcome to join and bring questions on issues important to them.
For any inquiries, please contact Cord A. Sterling at 540-604-1610.
Virginia Virtucon is making arrangements to broadcast the debate in some format.

Excellent news, Scott!
Will all the candidates show up?
I’m SUPER impressed with how thorough Virginia Virtucon’s coverage of this race has been– momentum tracking, candidate interviews, and now a blog-cast! This truly is the most valuable resource available to 28th district constituents and other Virginia residents who are tracking the canvass. THANK YOU for a job WELL DONE!
Agreed Anonymous! Thank you from me too! The balance of the whole state legislature and future redistricting is too important for the absolute best candidate to not win. With that said- newcomers to the blog need to research each of the four candidates closely or come to this forum and grill them with good, fair, and honest questions. The first one I’ll ask is “Where the heck is Leeland Station!” Thank Goodness for Google Maps!
It’s technically in Stafford County, but the zip code belongs to Fredericksburg. It’s in a new planned neighborhood called oddly enough- Leeland Station. Bring a friend!
Anon – Hope I haven’t set expectations too high on the broadcast. We’re still trying to figure out some technical specs. Don’t be too disappointed if the quality is not at too high of a level.
Wost case I’m probably going to video tape it and up load segments to Google video for posting. I’m just hoping I have enough light in the room to do that.
Full address of location is 115 Riggs Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405. Leeland Station is in south Stafford next to the Leeland Road VRE station.
As far as what I’m hearing all candidates have confirmed their participation.
I think it’s great that you folks are taking such participative interest in this race (and other races, too!).
Regardless of how all of the technical stuff works out, I am still very pleased with the amount of effort this blog is showing. It’s the only blog I visit that seems to be actively engaged in the topics it features. Again, terrific work!
I’m looking forward to continuing coverage!
i agree. many of the others are little more than an extension of candidates websites.
Hirons is the MAN.
Is this being broadcast?
I believe that Hirons will have at least one post up later tonight on this. He may be filming the forum and posting to the web, but I’m not certain what his final decision is. A live broadcast wasn’t technically feasible, in part because Hirons is one of the ones organizing the event.

Is Virginia Virtucon endorsing for the 28th?
There is some behind the scenes discussion here as to whether we will do so or not. Only 2 of our contributors live in the district, so the decision will largely fall to them.
