The Fairfax Problem – Gerry Connolly

Greg L. at BVBL has been following developments in Fairfax County with regard to overcrowding issues plaguing communities there.

[Fairfax County Chairman Gerry] Connolly announced he is forming a “strike force” to deal with this issue, which would “bring everyone to the table”, “inventory the problems”, and then “devise a strategy” for dealing with the problem. Too little, and far too late. If you have any doubt, consider his little vignette where he toured a neighborhood in Springfield and [saw] a house with a sign in spanish advertising rooms for rent. Not only did he fail to take action on the spot, but to his knowledge this brazenly illegal boarding house is still in operation.

How about you start with inventorying that problem, and “devise a strategy” to actually get off your butt and get a zoning inspector to visit that residence, Supervisor?

I can inventory the main problem with Fairfax County and it is Gerry Connolly. The man skates from election to election, always with his eye on the next office he can run for. As a result, problems stew until they reach a crisis level as we are seeing in this instance. Only then does he give lip-service to it with the hope that he’ll be occupying some other office by the time it boils over.

Then of course you have Connolly’s enablers.

“These are changes in neighborhoods, and change is sometimes hard to manage,” said Fairfax Supervisor Penelope A. Gross (D-Mason), whose district includes large communities of Koreans in Annandale, Vietnamese in Seven Corners and Latinos in Baileys Crossroads. “It’s a different model. A transition from the nuclear Caucasian family to the ethnic extended family.”

I don’t mind extended families, but that isn’t what we are talking about here. We’re talking about rooms for RENT. We’re talking about ILLEGAL boarding houses. We’re talking about UNSAFE living conditions for the people crammed into these homes. (One fire resulting from bad electrical work in a basement divided up into four bedrooms with only one escape route up a flight of stairs and you’re looking at a death trap.) Gross is trying to turn what is primarily a health and safety issue into an ethnic / racial issue where if you don’t tolerate this, you’re a bigot.

There is a reason why people are moving out of Fairfax County and it has a mustache. It is time to replace Connolly and his cabal. Here are two excellent candidates to start with:

One Response

  1. I usually don’t care to vote but I will certainly vote this election to get rid of Gerry for turning this peaceful county in becoming an illegal alien sanctuary. It’s disgusting how driving down the road you can see dozens of illegal aliens standing outside 7-eleven stores and parking lots, their dozens of children overcrowding public schools and sucking the money out of wallets to provide for them. Mr. Connolly you sir are a traitor to your country and fellow citizen. You disgust me and every way possible. VA will turn into a 3rd world cesspool if we continue to allow this problem to continue.
