*** MARK TATE INDICTED ***

 From WMAL in DC

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Republican state Senate candidate Mark Tate was indicted Tuesday on 11 felony counts.

A Loudoun County grand jury charged Tate with nine counts of perjury and two counts of election fraud, Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman said. The indictments come exactly three weeks before a primary election between Tate and Republican rival Jill Holtzman Vogel for the 27th District nomination.

Tate also sought the seat in 2003, but lost the nomination in a close primary to Sen. H. Russell Potts Jr., R.Winchester, who is not seeking another term. Tate did not immediately respond to a telephone message seeking comment on the indictment.

  1. Well, the truth finally comes out. It was an independent prosecutor outside the district who investigated so no one could accuse Plowman of playing politics. This mess has been going on for years and Tate has gotten away with it. Naturally, he blames the Vogel campaign–that is bull. If they wanted to get Mark out they could have done it before he even got in as all this info was there on Mark’s reports. Lazy media and inept SBE continued to do nothing.
Mark has been sending out vile literature against Vogel after promising to run a clean campaign. No facts to back up what he says.
Mark accused Vogel of getting VCAP to put the leak out a couple of weeks ago, but that is baloney. Though Jill was on the board, she has no say in day to day operations. She had no knowledge they were going to say anything about a criminal investigation about Mark. Finally, after his dirty campaign, the truth comes out and these indictments go back to 2002. If he has any decency, which after looking at the websites he peruses I doubt, he will drop out. But no he will play victim–yeah Grand Jury finds 11 counts against him but gee that is Jill’s fault!

  2. This is game over – Tate (and the wacko at NLS) is done – just not sustainable any more. The last indicted candidate to win an election was . . . . no one.

  3. There’s more here than you’d think. Watch and listen.

  4. Newsflash! Tate hired Zacharia Moussaoui lawyer. Nice job – way to link yourself to a terrorist.

  5. Anyone know what the 2 charges were in the indictment?
