Reason v. Savagery

This morning was day one of our first beach vacation of 2007 here at our place on Hatteras Island, North Carolina.  I got up at 0630, put the kettle on for tea and clicked on the TV to MSNBC.  Yes, I admit that I’m a conservative that likes MSNBC.  If you’ve been keeping up with things, then you know my morning (as was yours) was greeted with news of the failed bombing in London near the Tiger, Tiger club.

Whatever your political perspective, I hope you realize this means the global war on terrorism is alive and well.  Whatever your opinion on the Iraq situation, you must realize Islamo-Fascism’s core objective.  It is a full, frontal assault on reason and civilization.

As beings of reason and logic, we must understand that those who choose to abandon reason must be dealt with in terms understandable. Those who freely abandon reason are animals.  We can expect them to respond to stimuli of two types:  pleasure or pain.  So unless we’re prepared to pleasure them, we must inflict pain.

Of course, some will opine how we, as beings of logic and reason, should act unreasonably and illogically, as to inflict suffering upon Islamo-Fascist animals.  The answer is simple.  As beings of logic, we can reason the time to act as savages for the purpose of self-preservation.  When we achieve our objective we have the faculties to lay down savagery and resume the mantle of reason, logic and civilized behavior.

And that’s how we deal with our fellow humans who freely abandon their humanity whilst preserving our own humanity.

I’ll be surf-casting tomorrow, I’ll be sure to provide a fishing report.

  1. Savagery is a good description. Our Declaration of Independence speak s of the Savages.

Islamic Civilization is further behind the West (800 years) than the hordes who destroyed Rome were behind Roman Civilization (600 years). Thus, the term ‘barbarians’ applies to both alike.

  2. James:
I know you and I disagree on some things. But I’m glad we agree on the nature of civilization and savagery.
Could I ask you to speak more about how the Declaration speaks of savages?

  3. NNJH: I’m not aware of disagreements – I don’t track such.

In the list of complaints for George III in the Declaration… “He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.”

I find the sense of outrage and shock from Liberal and less-educated quarters when you say Islamic Civilization is barbaric – and barbarian compared to ours – amusing.
