This Friday through Sunday is Virginia’s second annual “Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday.”
School supplies that cost less than $20 per item and clothing and footwear that costs less than $100 per item are exempt from the state’s 5 percent sales tax.
Those items are also exempt from local retail sales taxes, according to the Department of Taxation.
