Dems Longstanding Plan To Attack Romney’s Religion

An L.A.Times article detailing attempts to access Hillary!’s records as First Lady from the Clinton Presidential Library and Massage Parlor in Little Rock notes that most of the FOIA requests for these documents won’t be released until after 2008 at the pace requests are currently being processed.  However, a nugget that already has been released sheds light on Demoncrats longstanding plan of attack against Mitt Romney — his religion.

A 1993 memo discussed a plan to create reports on members of Congress, tracking their positions on healthcare. The files would log when members met with Hillary Clinton, how they voted on key bills, and — under a category called “influence” — whom they consulted for advice. One 1994 memo offers a historical curiosity: It draws Clinton’s attention to a rising Republican politician, Mitt Romney, who is now a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination.

In the memo, Clinton’s aides discussed a trip to Boston, where the then-first lady was to appear at a fundraising event for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass). Kennedy was then running for reelection against Romney.

“Romney, a millionaire business consultant with no political experience, is a Mormon,” the memo reads. “His religion is a delicate issue, which Kennedy himself has not raised but other Democrats have.”

Just like a Kennedy — always having someone else do his dirty work for him.

Now, we here at Virtucon aren’t really fans of Romney.  We’re pretty much split between supporting Rudy and being FredHeads (I being in the latter camp.)  I’ve made it no secret that I have serious concerns about Romney based upon his class-warfare arguments against the flat tax using left-wing rhetoric.  But we will stand up for his religious freedom and against this bigotry that the Demoncrats regularly peddle any day of the week.
