Gov. Timmy! Slashes Police Funding

Well, Gov. Timmy! does it again.

Only a Democrat could wind up with a $641 million budget shortfall even though revenues to the Commonwealth are increasing (by 3.4 percent through August ‘07 and projected at 3 percent for fiscal year 2008 according to Sec. of Finance Jody Wagner.)  Now Timmy! wants to tap the state’s rainy day fund — something created only for economic downturns and recessions – to help make up for his administration’s economic incompetence.  I think not.

Now we learn that Prince William County expects to lose $575,000 in state aid for its police department because Gov. Timmy! is slashing in all the wrong parts of the budget.  As a result, PWC supervisors are scrambling to find the funds to pay for implementing their new anti-illegal immigration policies.  You’d think that maybe Gov. Timmy! didn’t want localities to have the resources they need to crack down on illegal aliens.  I don’t know what would give anyone that idea

In Gov. Timmy!’s world, it is okay to slash funds from existing programs, including law enforcement aid to localities, just so that he can spend $75-$100 million on a brand new Pre-K program.  Talk about your warped priorities.
