It’s amazing to see how much Democrat candidates have a sudden love for the military when it fits their need to seek election victories. In the 88th HOD district Democrat candidate Carlos Del Toro suddenly wants everyone to know that he is Commander Del Torro. He has new signs using his military rank. Thankfully these are just about the ugliest signs for a political candidate I have ever seen.
Interesting enough these signs have popped up in the heavily military family area of North Stafford. The signs started popping up in and around the communities of Settler’s Landing, Hampton Oaks and Aquia Harbor.
Taking a look at Candidate Del Toro’s website there is a couple of lines in the bio that reference his military service and uses the title Commander, but certainly nothing as blatant as the Commander Del Toro signs. He does however have a support group called Veteran’s for Del Toro. While the members of that group have impressive military records the group appears to made up of all of 6 people, hardly enough to even be considered a squad.

Using a military rank on a political sign does not appear to be in direct violation of any UCMJ code (although it should) it is in very bad taste. What did you serve in the military just to get the cool medals, neat uniform and be called Commander?
Commander Del Toro, do the honorable thing and destroy those signs.
By the way voters in the 88th district should vote for DELEGATE Mark Cole (who also happens to be a retired Commander in the United States Navy!)

Next thing you know, Democrats will be recruiting Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen Band to run for something.
