After six years of Democrat-ick rule by Govs. Marky Mark and Timmy!, our own version of Abbott and Costello can’t seem to even meet an environmental goal to preserve the Chesapeake watershed that was set by their Republican predecessor, Jim Gilmore.
That’s right, not only does Gov. Timmy! appear headed for failure on his own land preservation goal, but also on the Chesapeake Bay 2000 agreement that Virginia entered into with Maryland, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and the federal government under Gov. Gilmore.
Meanwhile, Maryland and Pennsylvania have already met and surpassed their target levels under the agreement. Virginia is still 239,000 acres - 9 percent - short of reaching its goal of 2.77 million acres. Maybe if Timmy! and Marky Mark hadn’t been so busy misplacing hundreds of millions of dollars since they brought their Enron-style accounting practices to Virginia, we could have already met this goal as well.
