He May Be Lucky But He’s Not Too Bright

The independent candidate for the 1st Congressional District must not be the brightest bulb in the shop.  He sent out what I would expect to be his one and only mailer of the campaign.  The mailer was a palm card stuffed in a hand written envelope.  I imagine this mailing went to about .005% of all 1st district voters.

The card is filled with words and is fairly difficult to read with all the clash of colors.  He has his last name on the card only once in a tiny mock ballot picture.  To top it off when you flip the card over he’s on the attack claiming Rob Wittman is no Reagan conservative.   Real smart of Lucky to top this palm card off with a printer’s union bug.

That’s a conservative Reagan Republican for you – send out a mailer attacking a fellow Republican and do it with a palm card that was union printed somewhere in Ohio.

Meanwhile Rob Wittman picked up the endorsement of the Free Lance Star this morning.

From the Free Lance Star

For that reason, The Free Lance-Star endorses Republican candidate Rob Wittman for the 1st District seat. Mr. Wittman cut his political teeth by serving ably in his home area. Elected to the Montross Town Council in 1986, he sat on that body for 10 years, four as mayor. He then served on the Westmoreland Board of Supervisors, becoming chairman in 2003. In 2005, Mr. Wittman won election to the House of Delegates, where he has represented the 99th District. Among his accolades: The Chesapeake Bay Foundation named Mr. Wittman, a marine scientist, Legislator of the Year.

With a Ph.D. in public policy and administration, Mr. Wittman takes conservative yet reasonable stands that are a refreshing alternative to the stridency of some Virginia Republicans who decry any proposed new tax. Concerned about federal overspending, Mr. Wittman proposes to stifle earmarks and special tax breaks by making members list them on the Web. His firsthand knowledge of conservation issues should make him an especially valuable advocate for the Chesapeake Bay on Capitol Hill. Further, House GOP leader John Boehner has promised to back Mr. Wittman, whose district is rich in military bases, for a seat on the House Armed Services Committee.

  1. Plus Lucky has yet to file with the FEC. Hmmm……

He’s an official candidate. He is obviously expending at least some money. And he hasn’t filed within the required amount of time.

He’ll be having fun with FEC lawyers for the next 6 years…

  2. I think that mailer only went to delegates who attended the convention. Wasn’t it well done? HA! Whoever designed that sure is amateur. Just like Lucky.
