"That some should be rich, shows that others may become rich, and, hence, is just encouragement to industry and enterprise."

    -- President Abraham Lincoln - 1864

"The supply-side claim is not a claim. It is empirically true and historically convincing that with lower rates of taxation on labor and capital, the factors of production, you'll get a bigger economy."

Dukakabee U.

Fred Thompson hits Mike Dukakabee on tuition for illegal aliens.

In one of the most negative direct mail pieces sent out so far in the Republican campaign, voters get a brochure with the headline “Huckabee University” that notes “Illegals Welcome” and “US citizens need not apply.”The mailing is in reference to rival Mike Huckabee’s support of in-state tuition and scholarship offerings for the children of undocumented immigrants during his tenure as Arkansas governor. It comes courtesy of [Fred] Thompson, the former Tennessee senator.

. . .

Thompson’s mailer was sent out in the days leading up to today’s debate among the Republican presidential contenders hosted by the Des Moines Register.

Thompson’s mailer encourages people to open the doors to the fictional “Huckabee University,” where they learn that on the subject of immigration, “Mike Huckabee talks like a Republican, but governs like a Democrat.”

Thompson, meanwhile, pledges “no amnesty,” increased border security and to “maximize efforts to prosecute and convict criminal alien gangs.”

Huckabee has defended his support of higher-education benefits to the children of undocumented immigrants under the belief that a child should not be punished for the sins of the parent. Huckabee also has said he believes there’s an element of racism involved in the immigration debate.

Rise, all loyal Dukakabees
And hurl your lunch on our foe.
We will squish, day or night,
Rain or snow.
Soft, weak and goo,
Don a new pair of shoes.
As we sing, get set to spring.
Come on Dukakabees, it’s up to you!
(STAND)
So Rise and Shout, the Dukakabees are out
We’re on a trail to lame and sorry.
Rise and shout, our hollow cheers will ring out
As we unfold our sad, sad story.
On we go to hurl upon our foe
For Alma Mater’s sons and daughters.
As we join in song,
In praise of you, our faith is strong.
We’ll raise our colors high in the blue
And cheer our Dukakabees of Dukakabee U.
Rah! Rah! Rah-rah-rah!
Rah! Rah! Rah-rah-rah!
Rah! Rah! Rah-rah-rah!
GO DUKAKABEES!

  1. I like Thompson but he got in the race way too late and is fading quickly. He almost seems to old but He is someone I would vote for.

I could also proably cast my vote for Romney if necessary.

I will never vote for Rudy just because of his immoral past and those he has surrounded himself with.
I will never vote for McCain just because of his stupid McCain-Feingold.

Right now I am sticking with Huckabee because he seems like an honest man who tells it like it is. I think he would be outstanding for middle America. I realize he has been wrong on immigration in the past but he seems to have corrected himself. Everytime Huck gets on the air, even to defend himself his poll numbers seem to go up a few points.

  2. The problem with Dukakabee is that he will be eaten alive by the Dems on the crime issue and has a long record of being wrong on immigration and taxes. He can talk all he wants about the future and how he’ll be different, but I put more stock in deeds than words and his deeds are not very comforting.

  3. An honest man?

Tell it to Steve Stephens. Huckabee lied to his face about his stance on a tax referendum five years ago: http://defeathuckabeeinva.wordpress.com/2007/12/10/huckabees-arrogance-on-economic-policy/.

  4. Huckabee is anything but honest. I would also look to his disingenuous interview with the NY Times Magazine for examples of his duplicity.

The amazing thing is that between tax loving Mike Huckabee and Terror Appeasing Ron Paul, two of our leading candidates would likely get destroyed from the right by Hillary Clinton. It is an astonishing development.

  5. Wait…how do dems..especially hillary clinton…attack huckabee on the crime issue? her husbands parole board made dumond’s parole possible to begin with.

  6. First, the Clintons have no shame. Second, Dukakabee reappointed the Clinton and Tucker appointees to the parole board instead of naming others to the board. Third, just look at the number of pardons and commutations that Dukakabee issued in comparison to Clinton, Tucker and another Gov. COMBINED. Double that number and you’ve got Dukakabee’s.
