For some reason, when the show “Jericho” (described by some as “Lost” meets “The Day After”) premiered on CBS in the fall of 2006, I didn’t get around to watching it or recording it on my DVR. I’d stumble across articles about the show and thought that it sounded interesting, but never undertook the effort to tune in.
Well, after Doug Mataconis at “Below The Beltway” and Jim Young at “Skeptical Observer” promoted it on their blogs, I made a mental note to try and check it out at some point. A few weeks ago, HD Net ran an 8 episode “Jericho” marathon and this time I did set my DVR to record it. After watching the pilot episode, my wife and I were hooked. We wound up running through all 8 episodes fairly quickly and then waited for HD Net to run some more. When we didn’t see any on the horizon, we went out and bought the Season 1 DVD the other night and have now made it through another 6 episodes.
After being cancelled at the end of Season 1, a massive fan effort revived the show and a shortened second season will begin on February 12. This time, my DVR is ready. Yours should be, too. “Jericho” is one of the smartest written, best acted shows on TV. Plus with the writers strike continuing, new episodes of quality shows will be few and far between.
Fear not, if you haven’t seen Season 1. Rent or buy the DVD. Keep your eyes peeled for marathons. Read a summary of the story to date online. Or visit the CBS web site to watch full episodes of the entire first season. Then tune in for Season 2. You’ll be glad that you did!

My wife and I still have 7 episodes of season 1 to get through, so no spoilers here, please.
I saw the season 2 promos. Look great!
