I guess that James Dobson didn’t get the memo and now he is set to endorse Mike Dukakabee.
Until today, Dukakabee looked like he had a better shot at becoming McCain’s running mate than Romney. But Dukakabee’s weird urge to keep fighting on despite being hundreds and hundreds of delegates behind McCain (Dukakabee only has about half the delegates that Romney does and Romney would have had to win 3 out of every 4 remaining delegates to beat McCain), I’m sure in no way endears him to McCain whatsoever.
Nearly a year ago Dobson displayed why no one should take him any more seriously than the left’s DailyKos or MoveOn.org. This man has no credibility and now he is showing that he has no common sense, either, climbing aboard a sinking ship. Then again, Dukakabee seems equally delusional with his quest to fight on.

Dobson says he’s pro life yet he wont support McCain who is PROLIFE and would rather cause HRC or Obama to win and they turn the court liberal again is discusting. He’s only out to serve himself. How many abortions would he be responsible for…

Sadly, this will give Huckabee more snake oil to sell as the “conservative” candidate.
Innoculate yourself dear reader (http://rightwingliberal.wordpress.com/2008/02/08/mike-huckabee-is-no-man-of-the-right/).

Among regular evangelicals, Dobson is #1. Now that Falwell is gone, he has this place to himself. The fact is this very large group takes him VERY, very seriously. Why? Because he has more listeners to his radio show and book enthusiasts among his supporters than anyone else in the evangelical community. He has been in the business of defending these Christians rights and championing family values for decades.
Did he make a mistake? You bet. I think Dobson’s comments on Fred Thompson early on serverely hurt him badly among what would have been Thompson’s base. This base then turned to Huckabee and was enough to do very well in the south and keep his enemy Romney from winning anything big. Evangelical’s as a whole will never warm to Romney for obvious reasons.
I am fairly certain Huckabee will give a major speech in a few days and be done as well. He just wants to go out like Romney. It is interesting that even though he is still campaigning he has yet to criticize McCain. He has gone out of his way not to say anything bad about him.
I am starting to believe, when I read some of these posts, that maybe these people are being paid by the media to distort, slander, or outright lie, basing their opinions on CNN or late-night radio talk show hosts. LOL! You guys are all sheep, those of you who bash individual characters. I would like to see some opinions on some ISSUES…do we want a national health care plan, or do we want free enterprise in our healthcare system? Do we want limitless free trade with “made in China” stocking our shelves, or do we want to or do we want to impose limits and tariffs on those imports? Do we want to expand our government programs, or limit them? Do we want our tax system to inhibit saving money and penalize self employment, or do we want to want to hold on to what we know, with all 54,000 pages of tax code? Do we want our enviroment saved for our future generations, or do we want to put our immediate needs first? THOSE are the things that are important, and we need to research ALL our candidates to find out, really, who is the best one to carry our values to the white house?
Personally, I am voting for Huckabee. HIs proved himself in his 10 1/2 year tenure as governor (a microcosm of the presidency, in my opinon). He was imperfect, yes, (to some conservatives as well as liberals), but most often, he voices my values as an American, and I believe he will speak for me.
No one here bases their opinions on CNN. Those of us in the Virginia blogosphere who are opposed to Mike Huckabee do so on long-standing principle. We have been blogging and been consistent on the issues long before Huckabee ever entered this race and will continue to do so long after he is gone. Anyone familiar with us knows that.
It is interesting that in the past day or so a number of pro-Huckabee commenters have come out of the woodwork, almost as if they are being directed to do so by someone.
As far as the tax code goes, I agree with you that it is too long and too complex, however, it is the Flat Tax, NOT the so-called Fair Tax (which is nothing more than a fancy name for a national sales tax in excess of 25 percent), that is the real solution.
