If at first you don’t succeed

D.J. McGuire over at The Right Wing Liberal notesthat the VA Senate Dems new transportation plan looks an awful lot like the one that voters overwhelmingly rejected when then-Gov. Marky Mark put it to a vote.

In other words, the Senate Democrats want to force upon NoVa and HR the very sales tax increase that they rejected in 2002. It is an unbelievable slap in the face to the voters in those regions.

Before the Commonwealth thinks about raising the highway user fee here in Virginia, they might want to first firewall the transportation trust fund so that it won’t be the piggy bank that always gets raided for nontransportation spending and then never repaid. They need to put real trust in the trust fund before anyone acquiesces to paying more.
