From Hot Air:
Republicans to be prosecuted in Ohio for crossing over to affect Democratic primary?
That is simply ridiculous. Talk about voter intimidation and suppression. Nothing does it better than threat of prosecution or jail.
What is happening here? Rush Limbaugh has instituted “Operation Chaos” to get GOPers to vote in Dem primaries to keep Hillary Clinton in the race and throw the Dem Party into turmoil by stretching out their primary season. Dems are now whining that this constitutes some form of “voter fraud” and are even trying to figure out a way to indict Rush for this. Good luck proving that or meeting the standard for it.
Virginia’s system where we do not have registration by party makes it a prime place for such mischief to occur on a widespread basis in the future. Heck, we even considered launching such an effort in ‘06 on behalf of Harris Miller against Jim Webb in the Dem Senate primary (at least until an unnamed weasel blogger on the GOP side leaked it to an unnamed sleazy blogger on the Dem side.)
So, Virginia legislators should ask themselves — do we institute party registration before an “Operation Chaos” plays with our nominating processes or wait until after the damage is done. The choice is up to them. Either way, that day is coming.
