Emmett Hanger Seeks To Change Augusta GOP Cmte. from Elephant to RINO
State Sen. Emmett Hanger has set out to change the face of the Augusta Co. GOP Cmte. to more reflect his point of view –
There are many people in the county who would like to have leadership that is more inclusive, Hanger said. “I think we would be better served by new leadership,” he said.
Hmmm… That wouldn’t have anything to do with current chairman Kurt Michael having endorsed Hanger’s primary opponent, Scott Sayre, last year, would it? Or those who have protested Hanger’s record of supporting higher taxes.

Hanger still doesn’t get it. His support for higher taxes isn’t mainstream GOP. Heck, ask the average unaffiliated voter on the street if he or she wants to pay more in taxes and they’ll pretty much give the same asnwer you’d get from a Republican. Not until spending is under control.
Hanger has been invited to various county cmte. meetings to put forward his vision for the GOP, but instead talks about the need to purge “trouble makers” (anyone who doesn’t agree with him) and refers to them as “snakes.” That’s real being real inclusive and classy. Not.
