John McCain is a Natural Born Citizen — Hillary and Barry Say So

Yesterday, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) introduced S.Res. 511 recognizing that John McCain is a natural born citizen of the U.S. in an effort to settle any potential controversy over whether being born in the then-U.S. territory of the Panama Canal Zone disqualifies him from serving as president.  Both Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have jumped on board as cosponsors, so this should negate any potential attempts from either of their camps to pull a fast one on this non-issue.  Heck, even Virginia’s own Sen. Thinskin Gump (D-WashPo) has signed on as a cosponsor.  Of course, this won’t stop the nutroots, but this pretty much ends this silly topic.

  1. Silly topic? I find your attitude alarming. Since when can legislation change the intent of the Constitution? Go back to your government class, it takes a Constitutional Amendment to change the Constitution. McCain is not a “natural born citizen”. I suspect that since he refuses to reveal his birth certificate he was probably born in a Panamanian hospital rather the the military base, since the hospital on the base was not built until after he was born. No matter, since the Founding Fathers were not fond of intervention in foreign affairs, they would never have approved of the military being all over the globe. A “natural born citizen” must be born on U.S. soil. Who would want a marginally intelligent war monger to be president anyway? Hillary and Obama certainly want to keep this dullard in play.

  2. Uh, huh. From all accounts, McCain was born in the Zone, which was a U.S. Territory until 1979. Furthermore, the only citizenship he has ever had was American. He never had Panamanian citizenship and no change in citizenship was ever necessary.
