Gilmore on Marky Mark

In an email from Jim Gilmore

It is very important this year that we work together to elect a Republican to succeed John Warner in the U. S. Senate. The Democrats are trying to elect 60 Senators so they will have a filibuster proof Senate that can increase our taxes, grow the size of government dramatically, and force an immediate and disastrous withdrawal from Iraq.

Since the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress in 2006, food prices are up, gas prices are up, inflation is up, the cost of government is up, regulations are up and taxes are up. If Mark Warner is elected to the U.S. Senate and the Democrats get a filibuster proof majority — all of these things will get even worse.

In politics, a candidate’s record of keeping his or her promises is the only guarantee you have of what that candidate will do in the future. So here is a little straight talk about liberal Democrat Mark Warner and his record.

When he ran for Governor, Mark Warner repeatedly promised to finish the elimination of the car tax, but he broke his word.

Mark Warner promised to eliminate the death tax, but he broke his word.

Finally, Mark Warner promised again and again he would not raise our Virginia taxes. But he again broke his word.

He raised taxes by 1.4 billion dollars, the largest tax increase in Virginia history!

Now liberal Democrat Mark Warner supports elimination of some of the 2001-2003 federal tax cuts.

Eliminating these cuts will raise taxes on average by more than $3,000 per family in Virginia and give America the highest personal tax burden in history.

Mark Warner and the liberal Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, support the following policies that will damage our economy further, cost jobs and make our nation less safe:

- Support for universal healthcare run by the government

- Support for the scheduled tax increases caused by the elimination of the 2001-2003 federal tax cuts.

- Opposition to drilling for oil in Alaska and offshore in an effort increase our domestic oil supply and lower gas prices.

- Support for beginning withdrawal from Iraq immediately no matter what the consequences.

- Support for providing in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.

If this campaign is about the future, should we be raising taxes when the nation is on the brink of recession? Should we raise taxes when people are losing their houses and can’t afford gasoline for their cars? Should we be adding more big government programs, like universal healthcare, when government spending is already out of control?

Please talk to your neighbors, friends, family and business associates and tell them this: The candidate Mark Warner is trying to sell to Virginia voters does not exist!

The real Mark Warner is a wealthy opportunist who has broken his word repeatedly to the people of Virginia. The real Mark Warner is a big government, tax and spend and spend again liberal who can’t be trusted to represent us in the U.S. Senate.
