Christianity and Aliens
The Vatican’s chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God.
The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, says that the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.
In an interview published Tuesday by Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, Funes says that such a notion “doesn’t contradict our faith” because aliens would still be God’s creatures.
The interview was headlined “The extraterrestrial is my brother.” Funes said that ruling out the existence of aliens would be like “putting limits” on God’s creative freedom.
Or as I once heard it put, the existence of extraterrestrials would only be greater testament to the power and glory of God. We know that God rested on the Seventh Day, but what did He do on the Eighth Day? What “side-projects” has He worked on over the course of eternity?
That said, I have no idea whether our planet has ever been “visited” by extraterrestrials and remain skeptical that we have. But if we have and there is anything to the stories of alleged UFOs in the Bible or supposed sightings in modern times of UFOs over the Holy Land, wouldn’t it be amazing if in fact these were part of a religious pilgrimage?

In Northern Virginia, it is hard to deny there are aliens among us. I see them outside the 7-11 every day.
Quick call Mulder and Scully!!! That would actually be a pretty funny comedy skit. Have the two of them show up at a 7-11 after receiving a report of “aliens” and watching the illegals flee because the Federales showed up.
Trust no one, Mr. Mulder.
Timothy:
Where in Caroline are you? I’m in Lake Land’Or.
Rappahannock Academy.
somewhat on the other side of the county from me
Yep, in the boonies that will (hopefully) be surrounded by Haymount soon. Although, I’m not holding my breath.
What did you think about the last local elections?
welp….honestly…between work and my MBA program I didn’t pay it much attention….what are your thoughts?
“what are your thoughts?”
Probably not a question you want to ask me
But anyway:
Sheriff: Lippa (I) kicked butt (69.74% of the vote) against Johnson (D) and Braxton (I): Great! I guess Johnson’s fraudulent crime statistics couldn’t save him.
Commonwealth’s Attorney: Spencer (I) managed to get 60.10% against the 30 year incumbent Latney (D): Great! Latney was a Commonwealth’s Attorney that only a criminal and his/her defense attorney could love. There’s definitely a problem when only 28.39% of felony defendants are getting sentenced (the rest are getting their charges dropped or reduced to misdemeanors). Caroline County was ranked at the bottom at 111th out of 120 jurisdictions in that regard.
Clerk of Court: Would have preferred that Southworth (I) won against Campbell (R). Meh.
BOS-Port Royal [my district]: Goodbye Calvin Taylor (D), hello Bobby Popowicz (R): Thank God.
BOS-Bowling Green: Ugh, don’t get me started.
BOS-Madison: Would have preferred John Green (I) but Wayne Acors (I) has had his moments this year.
BOS-Mattaponi: I regret any support I had for Bill Pickett (I) since he was completely full of it on something he said.
