Apparently, they’ve been HUGE in Germany and Japan…

Remember the band Asia from the ’80s? “Heat of the Moment”? “Only Time Will Tell”?

Well, apparently the four original members are back together again with a new album, “Phoenix.”  (Tune in to XM Channel 2 today for “Artist Confidential with Asia,” which is how I found out about this myself.)

But here is where it gets weird. Back in the ’90s, Asia continued on with a different line-up with eventually only one original member participating. (Apparently, they were huge in Japan and Germany over the past 15 years — can we say David Hasselhoff boys and girls?) That member left the band 2 years ago to reunite with the original members, but the rest of the band stayed together.

So now, there are TWO bands called Asia that are recording and touring. (Although the second incarnation now is billed as “Asia Featuring Some Guy I Never Heard Of.”)
