McClellan Taken To The Wood Shed By Bob Dole

Former Deer in the Headlights WH Press Secretary Scott McClellan has been taken to the wood shed by Former Senator Bob Dole.

“You’re a miserable creature.”

I have to agree with Senator Dole on the email.  Scott McClellan is chasing a cash cow with his book.  McClellan was probably one of the worst WH Press Secretaries ever.  Now he wants to become famous for writting a “tell all” book about stuff he knew nothing about – and shouldn’t have. 

If I had to guess this book has two motivations – 1. Cash in.   2. Get back at Texas Republicans and GWB for not supporting Momma McClellan when she decided to challenge the sitting Republican Governor in TX for his job.

    A few questions

    (1) What evidence do you have to support your assertion for what McClellan’s motives might be ?

    (2) If what he said is true, why should his motives matter ?

    (3) Does it really surprise anyone that Bob Dole, who doesn’t have a reputation for being the nicest guy on the planet, unleashes an invective-filled, fact-deficient screed ?

    (4) Have you actually read the book ?

    When Scott was press secretary I always thought he was weak and in way over his head. Now he is getting beat up by octogenarian while they fawn over him on the Today Show. Just when you thought he could not get more ignominious.
    There is little downside for Bob “Third-person” Dole. He can only go up. He might be a designated attack dog for the upcoming election.

    This is pure Bob Dole. It’s reminiscent of when he started railing about the glamorization of drug use in Pulp Fiction. Noting that drug use isn’t really glamorized in the film, several reporters asked Senator Dole if he had actually seen the film before commenting on it. Of course, he hadn’t.

    Now he’s an expert on McClellan’s book…but he hasn’t actually read it.

    Bob Dole doesn’t need to see a movie in order to know that Bob Dole doesn’t like it, even if Bob Dole is completely wrong about the reasons Bob Dole doesn’t like it.

    (I better stop talking in the third-person like this, otherwise I’m going start sounding like, well, Bob Dole ;) )
