Congratulations Chairman Frederick

Throughout the campaign for RPV Chairman, it was clear that Del. Jeff Frederick had the better answers to questions put to both he and Lt. Gov. John Hager on what their vision was for the party and where they wanted to lead it.  Having known Jeff since 2000 when we were both in the newly-reinvigorated Prince William County YRs, I cannot say that I am surprised by this.  I witnessed the same thing unfold in 2003 when Jeff defeated then-Del. Jack Rollison in the GOP primary for the 52nd Dist.  In both instances, Jeff ran very methodical, focused campaigns where he both put forward his vision and ideas while contrasting that with those of his opponents and their records.  Just check out Bearing Drift’s questions put to both Frederick and Hager and you will see what I mean.

Jeff’s overall vision for RPV is a solid one where he envisions the party returning primarily to the role of a campaign machine.  If he can follow the model that Rep. Tom Davis used at the National Republican Congressional Cmte. and have RPV work to recruit the right candidates for each race (at ALL levels — not just General Assembly – so as to help build up the back bench with future stars), help them out with logistics and fundraising, then we may be on the verge of a new ascendance of RPV.  Be sure to read Jeff’s plan for the first 100 days of his chairmanship.

So, best of luck to Chairman Frederick.  May the next four years bring prosperity and success to the Republican Party of Virginia under your leadership.
