I'm brand new to Virginia, and was hoping someone would be kind enough to recommend a website or source that would be a good website or starting place for learning about Virginia state and local politics. (My email is below)
Also, if McCain loses, GOP will win big in 2010 and 2012 congressional elections, if not I expect congress to be pretty much the same. Also, if Obama loses, look for Mark Warner to become a front-runner for Dem Nomination for 2012. Does anyone know if Virginia will gain any extra congressional seats after the next census?

thanks,
Beal

I agree with Jim Bowden: a McCain victory in November will likely mean Queen Hillary in 2012. If Obamessiah wins, Mitt Romney might have a shot, if he positions himself as the voice of the conservative opposition.

I don't think that we'll be picking up a 12th Dist. Even if we did, I am certain there would be a number of even more qualified individuals than I ready to run for it.

If McCain wins and only serves 1 term or if McCain loses, I could see myself backing Bobby Jindal for president.

I'll be interested to see if they create a congressional district for the NOVA exurbs -- PWC, Stafford, F'burg, Spotsy. Should also be interesting to see how they may shift the lines in the 9th.

As for U.S. Senate, someone mentioned Tom Davis and that certainly is a possibility. Bill Bolling would be outstanding, too. Then you also have to wonder what Jeff Frederick is looking to when his term as RPV Chairman comes up in 2012. Could he be looking at that seat, too, if he has a successful run in the post?

Cuccinelli may have to wait in line to challenge Webb. Cantor will be the frontrunner (if Speaker is not an option), Wolf, Davis, Goodlatte (based on redistricting) and Wittman could all jump in. At the next tier, we've heard lots of rumblings about Bolling's interest in the job and we already know Marshall is making moves to set up for another statewide run. Those folks with some other less likely possibilities (Saxman, Allen, McDonnell, etc.) will make for an interesting Republican pool.

If Cuccinelli were to lose his bid for Attorney General in the primary what does that do his political career? If he loses in General would he still have enough ability to take on Webb in 2012?
