From Tim Craig’s WashPo Virginia Politics blog:
Obama Seeks Out-of-State Volunteers for Virginia
Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) presidential campaign is recruiting out-of-state volunteers to come to Virginia, despite its claims that it already has more than 10,000 volunteers in the state.
So, you’ve now opened up 20 offices around the state and, if the 10,000 volunteers you claim to have are spread out geographically near those offices that would amount to 500 volunteers per office. Yet you now need to bring in people to Virginia?
There are only 102 days until Election Day. They could have 5 volunteers per office who only work one day between now and Nov. 4 without ever having to call in another person. I’d expect that many of these volunteers with their cult member-like enthusiasm would be willing to work more than that, so why the need for more people in Virginia?
Most likely, that 10,000 volunteers number came from the same person who predicted he would draw 50,000 people to the Nissan Pavillion when he wound up only drawing around 7,500.
