From a column by Michael Gerson –
“But Obama’s record on abortion is extreme. He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion — a practice a fellow Democrat, the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once called “too close to infanticide.” Obama strongly criticized the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban. In the Illinois state Senate, he opposed a bill similar to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which prevents the killing of infants mistakenly left alive by abortion. And now Obama has oddly claimed he would not want his daughters to be “punished with a baby” because of a crisis pregnancy — hardly a welcoming attitude toward new life.”
The contrast between how Obama views life and how the Palins do is extraordinary:
“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.” – Sarah Palin

Of course, Bristol Palin’s pregnancy has nothing whatsoever to do with the type of “crisis pregnancy” to which Senator Obama was referring in that quote, and in fact the only comment that Senator Obama has actually made about Bristol Palin was to say that her pregnancy is none of the media’s business. But it certainly is easy to simply take quotes completely out of context to make outrageous headline claims. Keep up the good work.
It is so refreshing to see a mother(and father) expecting their child to take responsibility for their actions! I guess while Obama is teaching his daughters “morals” and “values”, he is forgetting to teach them personal responsibility!!! What happened to having to deal with choices that we make? No, it is so much easier to “get rid” of a baby rather than to be “punished” by letting it live. Obviously, Mr. Obama has never spoken to women who have actually suffered through an abortion. While we are being selfish and deciding to end life in order to make our own lives “better”, why don’t we focus on how a woman deals with this decision years after making it?!?! Maybe Obama should spend some time getting to know some of the women who regret their decisions to have an abortion…after all, the babies are dead…he can’t ask them how they feel!
