Early Reports from Palin Richmond Rally

Mike over at The Write Side of My Brain has an early report along with photos from today’s Sarah Palin rally held in Richmond.

While a series of unfortunate events that began on Fri. prevented me from attending, other Virtucon contributors made the trek today, so expect to hear more from them soon!

Update 1: VA Patriot here – the RIR was absolutely packed yesterday with attendance estimates as high as 25,000.  The parking lot was completely jammed and it took us about an hour to get there from the Laburnum Avenue exit off Powhite.

Hank Williams Jr. belted out new lyrics for the old “Family Tradition” song he wrote for the McCain campaign:

The left wing liberal media have
Always been a real close knit family
But, most of the American People
Don’t believe ‘em anyway ya see
Stop and think it over
Before you make your decision
If they smell something
They’re gonna come down strong
It’s a McCain – Palin tradition

Now this old Union’s got problems
That is plain to see
The Democrats bankrupted Fannie Mae N Freddie Mac
Just like 1, 2, 3
The bankers didn’t want to make all those bad loans,
But Bill Clinton said you got to
Now they want a bailout, what I’m talking about
Is a Democrat liberal who do

CHORUS:
John N Sarah tell ya
Just what they think
And they’re not gonna blink
And they’re gonna fix this country
Cause they’re just like you N ole Hank
Yes John is a maverick
And Sarah fixed Alaska’s broken condition
They’re gonna go just fine
We’re headed for better times
It’s a McCain-Palin tradition

I am very proud of America’s name
Bu no society is perfect
And we have had our stains
If I’m down at the coffee shop and
Somebody wants to give our flag friction
We say please move on
Cause we’re standing strong
That’s an old John McCain tradition

Repeat Chorus

Some are bound to tell you I’m
Preaching to the choir
And that is very true
And we are going even higher
Like a mama bear in Idaho
She’ll protect your family’s condition
If you mess with her cubs
She’s gonna take off the gloves
It’s an American female tradition

Repeat Chorus

Sarah’s speech stuck to the same issues she’s been pounding since the convention – mavericks, less taxation, and advocacy for special needs children.

The crowd seemed excited to hear the Vice Presidential nominee but had a little trouble hearing the first 10 minutes or so of the speech.  The advance team did a poor job of making certain the audio was set at the right levels.

At one point, Sarah herself mistook some of the crowd’s pleas to turn up the volume for the high pitch wharble of Obama supporters.  But, the first dude saw what was going on, whispered to Sarah, and the Union guy on the volume control finally awoke from his nap.

  1. I attended with our 2 girls. Just wanted to share some pics of McCain’s “angry mob.” :) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8149&l=14741&id=1277182330

  2. FYI

Interesting article today about Troopergate in Anchorage Daily News.

  3. you can see hank williams at the rally:

  4. Do you have any more pics you can share from this angle?! My daughter and I are in 2 of these but sadly we’ve got ugly looks on our faces and I would love to see one where we don’t look like nuts! :)

  5. I am still amazed that McCain picked this brain dead bimbo to be his VP. I was stunned when she was asked the “trick” question by Katie Couric about naming a Supreme Court decision that she disagreed with other than Roe vs Wade. After stumbling and bumbling for a minute or so she finally settled on…you guessed it: Roe vs Wade!

This from a governor who had just issued a statement in JUNE expressing her displeasure with the punitive damage judgment in the Exxon case. Did the biggest event in Alaska in more than two generations just “slip her mind”?

And don’t make the comparison to Biden. He suffers from diarrhea of the mouth. Palin suffers from constipation of the brain. As evidence over 80% of voters believe he is qualified to be President while only 40% believe that Palin is. And based on her answers to innocuous questions I would have to ask what parallel universe that those 40% live in. She is good to look at however and we’re going to miss her when she heads back to Alaska for her impeachment.
