At the end of the day its quite simple. Jeff is a fine delegate, but chairman is a big time position with big time responsibility. The first responsibility is to FUND RAISE. If he can’t get the money we can’t win. plain and simple. So if he can raise a ton of money before end of the year he can make a good case. If not. CYA!

I don’t totally agree with JAB here (normally we are on the same wavelength), but I certainly think if Frederick is ousted because of McCain’s loss, then every district chair where McCain lost should also be ousted. Including, Jim Rich in the 10th where had he delivered the same votes to McCain that he did for Wolf, McCain would have won in the 10th!

I know nothing about Frederick but, the R leadership in the Senate and House are being blamed for the R losses also. While they may have not done much to help the R’s, look at the candidate at the top of the ticket. Not many could get behind the Dem Lite that would have helped the ticket all the way down.

This is a ludicrous post, truly stupid. The guy had basically 4 months to rebuild a party that was deeply divided and without any notable web presence, grassroots or fundraising strategy. Not to mention that Mac got killed in suburban counties nationanally by 15 points and we had the weakest senate candidate in VA history. None of this is Jeff’s fault. He was supposed to buck a coast to coast trend with nothing left to him in the cupboard? Gimme a break!!

Judge him by the outcome of the state elections next year, that’s a much better judge because he’ll have a year under his belt to build the thing and time to overcome legacy deficiencies.

So the fact that VA in now blue is one person’s fault? That is pathetic Mr. Klinge. While there is always more to do and when you lose – quick – place the blame! I think if Frederick can show short and long term plans on how we can unseat the Dems in 2009 – 2012 I think he deserves a chance.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Klinge’s assessment. He did not even mention everything. From giving Gilmore very large RPV checks tying to bail out a dead campaign to not having a functional website until just before the elction. Its a judgement situation. Ultimately its really McDonnell’s call. If he expresses a lack of confidence, Frederick is history. I do think the speculation needs to end now. Our leaders like McDonnell and Bolling need to immediately step up to the plate and say Jeff is our man or get him out of the post.
