Bedell Elected Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee

Bedell Elected Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee

Fairfax, VA – Last night, the Fairfax County Republican Committee elected Anthony Bedell its new Chairman. Bedell is a longtime Republican activist from Fairfax County, Virginia. Bedell was unanimously elected after the recent resignation of former Chairman Jim Hyland.

Mr. Bedell drew support from a wide array of elected officials and grassroots activists, including Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity, who himself, is also running for Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

“Anthony understands what it takes for us to start winning again in Northern Virginia. As I campaign to change the way the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has operated, I can think of no better partner to help in this campaign than Anthony Bedell, who will change the way the Republican Party operates in Fairfax, ” said Pat Herrity, Springfield District Supervisor and Candidate for Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.”

Bedell has a proven track record managing public and private sector legislative and political affairs programs, driving an agenda, and upholding Republican ideals while developing innovative ideas to meet the demands of a changing political world. His nine point plan for rebuilding the FCRC, called Project 50.1%, was well received by the membership and has created new energy within the Party.

“Bedell is extremely smart, pragmatic, and he will work tirelessly to chart a new course for Republicans in Fairfax County,” added Del. Tim Hugo (R-42).

“Anthony recognizes the importance of developing a platform that will appeal broadly. I am glad that part of his plan includes reaching out to a diverse group to grow our party. Anthony is the perfect Chairman for our party at these times because he has the grassroots knowledge and passion for true Republican ideals that will help to move the Fairfax County Republican Committee in a winning direction,” remarked GOP activist Samantha Vanterpool.

Bedell also has extensive executive branch experience. In 2001 he was appointed as a Senior Legislative Officer by Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to handle a variety of legislative matters for the Department of Labor. In 2003, he was appointed as Associate Administrator for the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Small Business Administration under Administrator Hector Barretto.

A product of Virginia’s public school system, Bedell attended West Springfield High School (1986) and Virginia Commonwealth University (1996). He is the Director of Federal and State Government Affairs for a Fortune 500 software company. He is also a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Bedell currently resides in Falls Church with his wife Christina and their two children Liam and Rose.
