    -- President Abraham Lincoln - 1864

Gov. Timmy! Says He’s Ready To Take His Eye Off The Ball

Gov. Timmy! in Nov. 2008 when asked about assuming the chairmanship of the DNC:

“That is not something I’m going to do … I would view it as taking my eye too much off the ball about things that need to happen here.”

Gov. Timmy! in Jan. 2009:

Governor Kaine tapped to lead Democratic National Committee

The state is currently battling a $3 billion budget shortfall and drastic spending cuts.

Great time to take your eye off the there ball, Timmy!  Great time…

And what about Timmy!’s pledge when he first ran for Gov. that he would seek to replicate Gov. Marky Mark’s bipartisan, “radical centrist,” mushy middle, think positive, let’s all hold hands and sing Kumbaya and hope things get better approach?  Well even ol’ Liberal Larry Sabato can’t dispute just how far Timmy! has strayed from that path.

“He likes the partisan role,” said Larry Sabato, a political analyst and University of Virginia politics professor. “He’s been a highly political governor — and successful in that realm.”

Kaine’s opponents — particularly those who have suffered the consequences of his party enthusiasm — will almost certainly use his new role as evidence that he’s not interested in reaching across party lines to solve statewide problems, Sabato said.

In the end, Gov. Timmy! will leave a record of no accomplishments for the people of Virginia. He has proven time and again that he values partisanship over problem-solving. We can’t be rid of his ilk soon enough.

  1. [...] at Virginia Virtucon [Gov. Timmy! Says He’s Ready To Take His Eye Off The Ball], Riley wonders what made the Governor change his mind.  After all, since he wasn’t selected [...]

  2. Why would a Republican be whining about a Democratic Gov shirking his responsibilities and only assuming half the duties of the DNC chair? This is the brain dead thinking that gave you Sarah Palin and her foreign policy credentials. The ability to see Russia from your house does not make one qualified to serve as VP. If “Timmy” wants to ignore Virginia and only do the DNC a half credit, then Republicans should rejoice. Now Democrats are only using half a brain just like the GOP. You’ve got a chance to beat “The Magic Negro.”

  3. Congratulations, Cecil. You managed to get every Democrat talking point from the past four months into one paragraph. Bravo! Of course, this merely shows that you have no intellect to call your own.

For many people, including those of us here on Virtucon, the well-being of our state comes ahead of partisanship. Gov. Timmy! said only 2 months ago that accepting this post would mean he’d be taking his eye off the ball of Virginia at a critical time. Now with the budget crisis worsening under his watch (thanks in part to the inept fiscal forecasting of Jody “Financial Fantasyland” Wagner), he decides what the heck.

Rats always are the first to abandon a sinking ship, so we shouldn’t be surprised…
