The Three VA Dem Stooges and Jody Wagner Help Obama Redefine “Volunteer Service”

It seems that the Three Virginia Dem Stooges who are running for governor — Creigh “Dirty” Deeds, Terry “Global Crossing” McAuliffe, and Brian “Don’t Call Me Jim” Moran — as well as Jody “Financial Fantasyland” Wagner are helping President Barack Obama to redefine what constitutes “volunteer service.”

From the People’s Weekly World:

In response to Barack Obama’s appeal for volunteer service on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Jan. 19, hundreds of union members and their allies marched on the picket line at the National Airport Hilton Hotel here.

“Check out, not in,” chanted the picketers as they marched in a circle in the chill evening darkness outside the hotel.

Obama’s inaugural web site had listed the picket line as one of the King birthday public service events and many union members in Washington for Obama’s swearing in the next day crossed the Potomac to join the embattled hotel workers.

The picket line was sponsored jointly by Unite Here Local 25 and the Northern Virginia Central Labor Council AFL-CIO.

The National Airport Hilton had been union for years, until ColumbiaSussex bought it.

. . .

In a sign of profound change, three Democratic candidates for Virginia governor walked on the picket line and spoke at a sidewalk rally. Also marching was Jody Wagner, former state treasurer and now a Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor of Virginia. “As you know, today is Martin Luther King’s birthday,” she told the crowd. “He dreamed of all workers being paid fairly. It’s very appropriate that all of us are here marching for union rights on Martin Luther King Day.”  (emphasis added)

So now walking a picket line ranks up there with feeding the hungry and sheltering the poor in terms of volunteerism?  This is insane.

And what of this People’s Weekly World publication?  From their “About” page:

We are partisan to the working class, racially and nationally oppressed peoples, women, youth, seniors, international solidarity, Marxism and socialism. We enjoy a special relationship with the Communist Party USA, founded in 1919, and publish its news and views.

  1. So ALL of the dem candidates for governor and, as I like to call her, Jody “I’m going to lose to Bill Bolling” Wagner were trying to intimidate a local business at President Obama’s urging? I’m not sure that is what Martin Luther King, Jr. had in mind when he said he had a dream.

If we have not lost America and potentially Virginia, it’s getting close…Let’s hope that our fellow citizens wake up before November.

  2. When I said “local,” I meant a business in Virginia, not local in the sense of locally owned…But I guess we don’t really care about big business even if they do employ most of our citizens.

  3. Good to see that the Democratic candidates are really showing their true colors. I know that when I think of honoring Martin Luther King’s memory I think of partisan rhetoric and aiding communists. What better way to honor his memory?

Does Jody Wagner not have a problem with communists? I know that socialism is a cute little fad, now that Obama is in office, but support for unabashed communists is unacceptable. Just becuase we won the cold war doesn’t mean that communists are no longer the enemy. They’re responsible for the oppression and death of tens of millions over the last century.

  4. They are either showing their true colors because they are stupid, or feel they are safe to do so and will not be harmed by the voters in November.

Do they really want to turn Virginia into New York or California? Because this is the kind of stuff that has made those two States a socialist dream.

Of course California cannot pay income tax refunds, but hey they have workers rights and they have a ton of social programs so it is all good.

    • Three of us who blog here on Virtucon — myself, ConservativeFembot, and Ignatius — are all political refugees who fled NY for the very reasons you stated. We’re making our stand here.

  5. I don’t mind y’all coming here, because you have not attempted to change Virginia into another New York.

I simply do not understand people who move here from those areas because they were tired of high taxes, lower quality of life etc, and then start to vote for people who are trying to turn Virginia into another NY or California.

Virginia was doing just fine without too many liberals.

  6. I’d go with Virginians in waiting.

  7. [...] Virtucon reveals that, in at least one instance, the system was used for means that were perhaps a bit more politically charged than originally conceived: It seems that the Three Virginia Dem Stooges who are running for governor — Creigh “Dirty” [...]
