Tom Perriello – A Profile In Political Cowardice

Soon-to-be-one-term-former U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello is apparently STILL refusing to say how he will vote on today’s “cap and tax” global warming bill coming before the House of Representatives, claiming that he is still undecided on it.

In other words, as some have speculated, Perriello knows that a vote for this is akin to political suicide in Virginia’s 5th Dist., but he needs to make sure that there are enough votes for passage first before he can vote against it.

All indications are that this will be an extremely close vote, so no doubt Perriello will be looking to cast one of the very last votes.  If this bill reaches 218 votes when the final recorded vote is taken late this afternoon, then look for him to vote against it.  Should it come down to being razor thin and he has to cast the deciding vote — as he did on legislation that would open the door for al Qaeda terrorists being held at Gitmo to be moved to Virginia — look for him to be pressured to vote with the House Democrat leadership.

Either way, look for Cordel Faulk to benefit from all this in 2010.

  1. [...] Now, yours truly’s Congressman’s been beating this monstrosity up for days, but Virginia’s 5th District begins about an hour from my house, and I have a few friends who are inflicted with Tom Perriello (Riley at VV). [...]

  2. Riley, just heard that Perriello is voting in favor. look for my blog piece to follow shortly

  3. i just went to his website. he voted in favor of this montrosity.

though i have a neurological disorder, i’m going door to door this fall to advocate his defeat.

there is no excuse for this man. i wrote him this (& wrote him many times begging him to vote no).

and don’t count on our us Senators voting no, either.

  4. Kelley’s right. I was just going to say, Perriello voted for it, as did Boucher, Connolly, Scott, and Moran (big surprise on the last three).

  5. obama bragged back during the campaign that this bill would bankrupt the coal industry. doesn’t boucher represent coal country?

let’s get rid of him too.

bobby scott is in a black district, so he’s pretty safe.

oh, and i got one of those computer generated responses from Perriello last night “thank you for your concern”. (this is after i told him that his defeat in 2010 would be my life’s mission). These people in Washington DO NOT CARE about us.
