Virginia State Delegate: ‘I Don’t Believe That Disabled Kids Are God’s Punishments, Period’
“I don’t believe that disabled kids are God’s punishments, period, end of discussion,” said Marshall. “I have defended disabled kids. I was almost kicked out of the Republican caucus because I forced a vote on a bill, because autism parents did not get a vote in a subcommittee.”
. . .
Marshall cited articles in medical journals, which he claimed showed an increased rate of cerebral palsy, low birth weights and premature births among women who have had prior induced abortions.
. . .
“These are both peer-reviewed medical journals,” said Marshall. “This is not Pat Robertson, this is not the Pope, this is not some yahoo preachers in a right-wing fever swamp.”
And here is his official statement:
MANASSAS, VA – A story by Capital News Service regarding my remarks at a recent press conference opposing taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood conveyed the impression that I believe disabled children are a punishment for prior abortions. No one who knows me or my record would imagine that I believe or intended to communicate such an offensive notion. I have devoted a generation of work to defending disabled and unwanted children, and have always maintained that they are special blessings to their parents. Nevertheless, I regret any misimpression my poorly chosen words may have created as to my deep commitment to fighting for these vulnerable children and their families.
Sincerely,
Delegate Bob Marshall
State Delegate, 13th District
Prince William County, Loudoun County

Yes, Delegate Marshall has done much in his legislative career to champion the causes of disabled children……….
He said what he said: God is punishing women for abortions by giving their children disabilities. This “official statement” is an insult to our intelligence.
This statement is a insult to any family with a child with special needs. He’s only sorry for being called out on his pseudo-religious bullcrap! Resign now Bob before you damage my party even further!
[...] reaction over his comments (including mine, although I doubt he was responding directly to me). Riley has the details, but in essence, Marshall stood behind the “nature’s revenge” [...]

So if he said “disabled children should be aborted, have their brains sucked out and thrown in the trash”, that would have gotten him over with the left.
