I have to hand it to them, the editors of my local paper knocked it out of the park with their editorial whacking ethanol subsidies.
I only hope my Congressman (Rob Wittman) will notice it.

Thanks for bringing this issue to light. Clearly, there are a “lot” of issues to be considered in moving forward with Ethanol – and whether it is truly a “clean” product. I found the number of gallons of water used in the production of it astounding.
Additionally, I also hope our leaders recognize that the subsidies are horrendous and probably should not be continued as they are.
Would be nice if they removed the mandatory 10% from our gasoline, too. That in itself is a waste of money.
Should have never been putting corn (or any other types of ethanol) in our gas tanks to begin with. Studies have shown that ethanol actually causes engine degradation, even with the newer designed engines.
Farmers might be upset because it will bring down the price of corn, but if Nancy Pelosi had ever gotten off the trade bill with Columbia, Panama, and South Korea, those same farmers can make up for it in grain exports.
It’s nice of Al Gore to say what a bad idea ethanol is — after his own business interests have moved on to something else.
