Macaca Apology Tour Part 2

George Allen should have issued one apology for “macaca” back in 2006.  It should have been public and in the presence of the man he referred to by that name.  He should have said that it was an unacceptable uncharacteristic instance of bullying on his part and that the word was simply made up so he didn’t have to utter any profanity in front of any kids.  (Think Steve Martin’s dog’s name in the movie “The Jerk.”)

Dick Wadhams handled the entire situation poorly.  However, he is gone, yet today we get news that Allen is once again apologizing for “macaca.”

Enough already.  Just never speak of it again and when Democrats or other opponents raise it as an issue, Allen should respond with, “We’ve got 9.1% unemployment, a third of all U.S. households underwater on their mortgages and troops at war in three different countries and all you want to talk about is freakin’ ‘macaca’?  Either grow up or get out of my face.”

  1. Your point UNCHARACTERISTIC is WAY off the mark……just ck the confederate flags in his highnesses, i mean his honor’s offices……….and the list goes on……

  2. Ken, as someone who has been told by the media and by many teachers that I, with my ethnic background, should be offended by the confederate flag…I’m not.

The flag is what you make it out to be. To some, it stands as a symbol of rights of states to govern themselves. To others, it’s a symbol of pride to rebel against a power federal government. Then there are those who see it as a symbol of just “being Southern”, just like people from other areas of the country take pride in where they come from. Yes, and to a few, it is a symbol of racist or bigoted points of view. However, I’m inclined to believe that those who believe the flag to be racist or bigoted in what it represents wouldn’t even entertain the possibility that the flag has meanings of a different kind to the majority of those who fly it.

It’s all whatever, though…people are ingrained (or indoctrinated) with certain beliefs and bitterly cling to them no matter what, eh Ken?

    • Phil,

Thank you! People who just see the Confederate Flag as a symbol of slavery, racism, or bigotry need to study history.

The war between the states was about much more than slavery; I contend it became about slavery long after the war was over.

The end of slavery was an end result, (not the reason for the war); brought about by the Democratic Republicans (now the Republican party) by the way.

The Democrat party has been the party that has perpetuated racial politics since then.

      Enough is enough.

  3. If George Allen cannot find a way to deal with this “macaca” nonsense, he may as well give up politics. Republicans may as well nominate some one else.

Allen and everyone else may as well realize the following simple truth.

Liberal Democrats and their news media comrades do not care about “macaca”. What they care about is winning.

Liberal Democrats will use any excuse to keep the focus off of issues related to governing. Otherwise they too would be offended when the news media can’t find anything talk about except “macaca”.

When a Conservative can talk about returning to Constitutional government, he will win the debate. When a Liberal can move the discussion to what is wrong with his opponent, he can win the debate.

Allen needs to find the humility step back and look at the big picture. At this point, the “macaca” story is a joke to everyone except him. Most his supporters just want him laugh it off, admit his humanity, and just spin from there to a discussion on limited government. No matter who the Democrats nominate, that guy is not going to be more perfect. There is nobody we can trust, neither Republican nor Democrat with Big Government powers.

  4. [...] have called the above an “apology” for “macaca”, but that’s not quite what Allen is doing. Allen is talking [...]

  5. On the subject of Allen; I agree, stop apologizing already!

Rush made an observation the other day; If we will only vote for the candidates that the press will not destroy, then why not just ask them who they approve of us running?

The Progressives will all be happy, and we will end up with another Obama (or Webb, or Warner).

He was speaking about Palin, but we need to look at all candidates that way.

I don’t favor Allen, but I would not reject him simply because some left wing pundits don’t like him, and will try to destroy him in the general election. They will try to destroy whoever we pick.

  6. Points well taken Phil; BUT it is my opinion that some people who fly that flag are also bigots……and without expanding this discourse, you might remember all of the “pranks” that Allen did as a “youth”…a bigot, is a bigot, is a bigot!!! And while even bigots are loved by God, i will gladly campaign and vote for Kaine!!

  7. Riley– Spot on with the post. They should have responded sincerely, ONCE, in the presence of the young man…and been done with it.

As for Ken, I fly the Rebel Flag here at my compound. While you’re busy defining folks for doing so, go ahead and call me a racist. Then I’ll describe all my work for ethnic outreach in the Republican Party that I do.
Assigning labels to people you don’t even know based on faulty understanding of certain items is idiocy of the first class.

  8. I apologize to Mr. Riley and Phil for offending them. What i am tryingto communicate is that George Allen, as Governor came across to me as a bully and somewhat of a bigot…….looking at his entire history, that became my conclusion. As an aside, he also had a crappy record as a Senator……i also have read that he had an affair with Ms. Obenshain……finally, a friend of mine who is very deeply committed to right-wing causes, told me her heard on the radio news in the am about 3 yrs ago that County Police were called to the Allen residence……….now, go ahead and beat me up for all of the foregoing statements……and of course, choose whatever you wish…..

  9. Without getting into unsubstantiated rumors about former Sen. Allen’s romantic life..Ken has a point. The Macaca incident is part of long trail of signs running from his college days until 2006 that suggest that George Allen has a problem with people of color. There’s sure a lot of smoke there for there not to be any fire. It goes beyond the Confederate Flag. Monk, I agree that there are other reasons for people to venerate that flag aside from racism. To me, those other reasons are generally wrong-headed too, but there’s a difference in thinking somebody’s wrong and thinking them a bigot.

  10. And the racial attacks against Gov. Allen continue. Did anyone even listen to his speech at the FFC the other day?

  11. Although Gov. Allen should stop bringing it up, his remarks at Faith and Freedom were quite appropriate and came across as sincere.

  12. Right on Gallows…….sure we have all those problems – unemployment, etc., and just what does George Allen have in common with these? you dont possibly think he knows even a little bit as to how to fix them……..even though with Faith and Freedom….and the assumption he has a monopoly on these virtues….God is a Democrat and on OUR side!!

  13. Ken, I go and say you had a point and then you go and say something dumb like that;-(
God isn’t on anybody’s side. If there was a God, pretty much everybody involved in politics on either side would be headed straight for Hell. And I don’t exempt myself from that either.

  14. Sorry Steve, My comment had to do with the earlier comment about “Faith and Freedom” which as you know, the right-wing seems to think it has a monopoly over all that is good starting with the moral majority, then family values, tea party and their flags and pledges………that is why i somewhat jokingly came back wth the “God is a Democrat” …i know that theologians in both parties claim God….

    • If the left has some purchase on morality, any at all, (and I hate to go here…), why is it that no Democrat is calling for Weiner to resign?

Married Congressman Weiner sends (a?) pic(s?) of his naked namesake (Yes, he did!), to a young woman(en?) half his age, makes a lame but tearful public statement which includes the words “I will not resign” quickly following the apology, and not one Democrat calls for him to leave.

Someone please define the morality of the left for me.

I am not saying everyone on the left is immoral, but why is there never a call from the left to police their own? They are always intensely interested in the policing of the right.

Is it exceptable because those on the left do not publicly proclaim to have any morals?

Do not forget that Democrats kept a man in the Senate for nearly 51 years who was a self proclaimed member of the Klan at one point.

If Byrd could be allowed to change, why can’t Allen? Double (morality) Standard?

    • Meanwhile, Chris Lee, GOP Congressman from NY, resigned before I even knew about his shirtless pic scandal.

  15. Not only am I tire of macaca – but I am tired of worn out “bigot” allegations.

Pete and repeat were walking down the street, pete got hit and who was left?

  16. LL-the fact that you’re tried of something, doesn’t change it’s validity.

    • Thanks for that enlightenment Steve. I didn’t know expressing one’s opinion invalidated anything.

Hey everyone – hold back on those opinions – they are apparently very HEAVY!

  17. Just because Byrd was “allowed” to change…..or as we all know, he DID change on his own, certainly does not “allow” all others to change. As far as Democratic morality, that will need to wait for another time…….starting with things like progressive income taxes to aid in supporting the poor….and Weiner………that is a lot of BS. I am fairly certain he wiill be run out of office by his constituents………as some pundit put it, look at the lies of the previous adm…..THOSE were REAL lies………

    • Ken, you know how I want to aid in supporting the poor? For anyone who is able bodied, I want to help them get a job so they can become RICH! For those sick, elderly or children, I want to help charitable organizations raise enough money to take care of them so money gets to those who need it, not some faceless bureaucrat in DC as part of overhead. The progressive income tax has failed. We should move to abolish it by its 100th anniversary.

    • The hypocrisy of the left is out there for all to see. As Riley stated, Chris Lee was gone before the scandal even broke.

Weiner will hang around, and around, and around, and …..

There’s at least one goof ball on the left who thinks America owes HIM an apology.

About Byrd; I like the way the left screamed bloody murder about Trent Lott’s comment at Byrd’s 100th birthday, saying Lott’s comment was racist.,

No one acknowledged that for Lott’s comment to be racisit, Byrd had to BE a racist of the first order.

Again, lack of a Moral Standard on the left.

  18. Sure, you are a noble and generous person….BUT that is not the norm in our society in my opinion……and look at the tremondous economic and social progress we have made since the tax was started……..

  19. It is evident that Weiner is not well…….he should resign and get well and maybe he can put his life back together again………….
