Jo-Ann Chase Meet and Greet

Jo-Ann Chase is running for delegate in the Virginia’s 87th district. Today Jo-Ann is having a “family friendly” meet and greet. Nothing unusual for a candidate. The event is being held a lovely park, in VIENNA, more than 15 miles from her district. Why would a candidate have a kickoff that is not in her district, followed by a Meet and Greet even farther away? Are there no parks in the 17 precincts in her district in Loudoun or even her two precincts in Prince William county? Why go all the way to the Vienna for a Meet and Greet? How many voters will travel 15 to 20 miles out of their district to meet a candidate and why should they have to? Or is she hoping to meet Vienna voters? I’m sure the nice folks in Vienna will be glad to meet Mrs. Chase, even though they cannot vote for her. Very strange.

Virginia Virtucon. Thank you for taking notice of Jo-Ann Chase’s Meet and Greet today. To answer your question about why a Meet and Greet in Vienna, it is because it is Jo-Ann’s daughter, who lives in Vienna, that is hosting the event. Many of the attendees will be friends of her daughter who know and love Jo-Ann and live nearby. While they may not be able to vote for Jo-Ann, they know that Jo-Ann will be voting for things that affect them in the House of Delegates and they want to support her. It’s not uncommon – we just heard about another Loudoun candidate having a Meet and Greet in DC and of course all you have to do is peruse VPAP to see how many candidates get financial support from those outside their district, and if you object to that I have a feeling you may have a lot to post about after the 2nd quarter financials come out. I’ll look forward to reading it.

Since you were interested in the Meet & Greet though, I wanted to make sure you know that the location has been changed to 2792 Marywood Oaks Lane, Vienna, VA 22181due to a forecast of inclement weather. The time is the same 3:30-5:30 today. If you ever have any questions about why or when the campaign is doing something, please feel free to call and ask. Thanks again for your interest – see you Tuesday at the Western Fairfax Republican Women’s Club meeting. Hey wait — Western Fairfax Republican Women’s Club??? Don’ t you live in Lovettsville? Isn’t that about 35 miles?

Worker B, I wasn’t aware that Lovettesville Lady was running for office and I am not sure why it matters that she is a member of the Western Fairfax Women’s Club.

She also never mentioned fundraising, but that is a nice redirect.

When you can’t raise money in your own district, moving outside of it to a remote neighborhood is the next best thing. When you can’t rally support with the people in your own district, this only foretells how August and November is going to go.

Lots of candidates do raise money outside their district, they list these events as “Fundraisers”.

WorkerB, how nice of you to note my comings and goings. And to announce them to everyone else! I would not have expect this from you. Now I’m afraid I’ll have skip the nice event on Tuesday. I can find better company, less hostile company, elsewhere. Enjoy the wine!

FWIW, the personal nature of the comments by Worker B speaks volumes. If there is information to share about one’s candidate, state it and be done with it.
