It all started with a challenge from Virtucon to figure out who leaked the sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain. Earlier today I suggested that if someone wanted to know who was behind this that they should start by looking at National Restaurant Association Board members who served towards the end of Cain’s tenure in the late ’90s and have ties to rival candidates.
Well, Northern Virginia Lawyer uncovered that Cain’s successor as CEO of the National Restaurant Association, one of the few people who would have knowledge of any such settlement or at least access to such information, is a Mitt Romney supporter. Thus there was both opportunity AND motive.
From there, The Other McCain picked up this story. Allahpundit then linked to a CNN story where the attorney for Cain’s accuser fingers a National Restaurant Association board member as the likely source of the leak. It is now exploding across the blogosphere with additional posts at The American Pundit and Marooned in Marin.
It would seem that things are closing in on whoever did this. If the person has links to a candidate, it won’t be pretty.
UPDATE: Rush Limbaugh is talking about the Northern Virginia Lawyer post today and the “suggestion from a local blogger” as to where to search for the answer on this.
UPDATE 2: Another suspect with even stronger ties to Romney emerges.
