Obama Campaign Using Federal Student Loan Information To Scrounge For Votes?

5_trillion[1]

A friend passed along something very interesting yesterday…

[W]e received a call at our home from the Obama campaign [last week].  It was laughable as none of us vote for Ds.  But it was a young female voice asking for our [mid-20s] son.  After dispatching the caller into never-never land, I thought, “Why would the D’s be calling young conservatives?  His voting record and profile is anything but liberal.”  Then it hit me like a ton of bricks.  [He] has a student loan.  I kicked myself for not learning what angle they had taken to verify my theory which is this:  The Obama people are using student loan holders, promising them the moon, to drive up their numbers.  In other words, using our tax dollars as campaign walking money.

This source is extremely reliable with excellent deductive reasoning abilities.  If he could not peg any other connection as to why his son would be receiving such a call, then this would have to be it.  If so, then it would seem that the Obama campaign is scrounging for votes by combing through federal student loan lists.  The next question then becomes — is this a breach of privacy laws and did someone at Sallie Mae turn over these lists to the campaign?

I agree with the previous commenter. Not that I would put anything past this president, but there are a number of other explanations which would make sense given our limited data. It is more likely they’re calling register voters under 30. My sister and brother-in-law who are card carrying liberals (but overall decent people ;) ), used to get calls and letters a few years back from the Bush campaign team. It would have been unfounded for Kerry supporters to say they are using Federal mortgages to drum up the former President’s support.

I get calls from National Christian organizations asking for financial support, despite the fact we are practicing Jews. Mailing lists and phone bank data aren’t entirely accurate but usually rely on demographics which fit their target audience. It’s like commercials on TV. It isn’t likely women watching Lifetime television will buy a new Ford pickup so you don’t see their ads on that channel that much. But I’m assuming on Outdoor Life Channel or a much more male oriented network will see a lot more truck commercials.
