PWC PD Crosses The Line On Facebook
President Obama came to Prince William County today. Naturally, our police and emergency responders were out in full force assisting with crowd control, security and other associated services for such an event. While the job that they do is a source of pride, someone in the PWC PD crossed the line in their Facebook posts of photos. It is one thing to show these fine men and women in action doing their job at this presidential event. It is another to post photos like this that serve no purpose other than to promote a political candidate.
This is a clear misuse of public services and the PWC PD should look into who did this, make certain that such photos that cross the line into being political in nature are removed and that strict policies are implemented so there is clarity in the future about what is proper and what is inappropriate. (Another reason why the new Chief of Police MUST come from outside the current culture that Chief Deane built there.)

Did they post similar pictures when Romney came to PWC?
Nope. Not a single photo. Now, Romney and Ryan were in Old Town Manassas and they have their own police force in the City of Manassas, but usually you would expect the county to assist as well.
Romney wasn’t in PWC. He was in Manassas.
Isn’t that a pic of Acting Chief Barnard and Peacor? Guess we know who she wants as the next “Chief”. They can put that pic on their desks.
I think you are being small and petty. This was history in the making. If Romney comes to PWC, I expect they would post lots of pictures also.
It was a BFD because President Obama is the president. I certainly didn’t go to the City and start making whiny noises. I supported them.
I have no problem with people going, participating and showing their support. It just isn’t appropriate for a county agency to post certain overly political photos on their official Facebook page.
The FORWARD sign is a little too much. It looks like a campaign site. Reflects poorly on professionalism of PWC PD.
That’s the culture that Chief Deane created during his reign of error.
Good grief! The PWCPD Facebook page shows the P.W. County police at various events in the community. Whether you like the current President of our country or not, he’s still the President! It’s a huge security undertaking for local police to coordinate with Secret Service to ensure safety. The P.W. County police provided security at a public event with 11,000 members of the community, featuring our President, arguably the most powerful man in the world, and people here are demanding that the local police NOT mention this on the police Facebook page??!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! Really?
Here’s a craqzy idea- let’s look at the actual text on the police post…. The PWCPD Facebook page does NOT politicize this event in terms of being partisan towards President Obama. The entire text of what the County police posted was ” Many thanks to the citizens and public safety personnel who kept this event safe and memorable.” It does NOT say “the police love Obama” or “the police support Obama”. Rather, it simply thanks police officers for doing their job well.
Most of the comments to the photos thanked the police for a good job. Perhaps if you look through Obama-hating lens, you’d cynically feel that happy photos of officers, the public, and the President necessarily implies partisan support by the County police to Obama– if you feel this way, part of me feels sorry for how cynical you are. Has anyone seen Star Wars? You know what happens when you let fear lead to anger, and anger lead to hate? Bad stuff happens. Holy smokes, listen to yourselves– some Republicans/ conservatives here are so terribly cynical/ angry/ mean towards Obama that they are critizing local police for publicly saying the police did a good job?!?!
When & if Romney has a significant campaign event in Prince William County in which the County police are needed to help police the event, let’s see if afterwards the PWCPD Facebook page fails to post photos of such. If that happens, then you can say “I told you so” and I’ll gladly and politely complain to the County police department for not posting Mitt pics.

I didn’t see any county police in those two photos — one with the Obama campaign slogan and the other with two Obama supporters holding up an “I (heart) Obama” t-shirt. As I said, most of those photos were appropriate, but those crossed the line and showed considerably poor judgment.
If that PWCPD site with a smiling President Obama top and center next to a FORWARD sign couldn’t pass itself as a campaign site then Obamacare is not a tax.
