CIA annex used as a secret prison for jihadists? Is that the real reason Petraeus resigned?

On October 26th, at a lecture in Denver, Petraeus mistress Paula Broadwell said the following, ““I don’t know if a lot of you have heard this, but the CIA annex had actually had taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner. And they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try to get these prisoners back”.   Why did Broadwell say that?  Had Petraeus told her it was the reason for the attack?    More here.   If it’s true, it could be the real reason for his resignation, and his failure to testify this week.  Broadwell’s  speech was on YouTube earlier today but it has since been removed.   This story produces more and more questions.  That’s usually what happens with a cover up.

  1. Broadwell didn’t reveal anything in that Denver speech. The Benghazi issue was raised by someone in the audience during question time. It was rather obvious from Broadwell’s answer that she was just regurgitating what she had heard and read in news reports and didn’t have inside info. The item about the Libyan prisoners in the CIA annex in Benghazi is not new. It came out in news reporting in the immediate aftermath and sounded like the CIA agents had captured a couple of the attacking militiamen and had to turn these prisoners over to the so-called “friendly” militiamen before leaving for the airport and evacuation. Not only were CIA secret prisons made illegal by Obama in 2009, but anyone who would set up such a prison, legally or illegally, in a place where the host government has almost no security control would have to be nuts.
