Virtucon ’14 Senate Poll Results

20090210PHT48991_original[1]

The results are in for Virtucon’s online poll of who you would support to be the GOP candidate for U.S. Senate in 2014. Gov. Bob McDonnell was the overwhelming choice with 58% of the vote, followed by former U.S. Rep. Artur Davis at 24% and outgoing LG Bill Bolling at 10%. Del. Bob Marshall received 5% of the vote via write-ins and Town of Dumfries Mayor Jerry Foreman got 1% of the write-in vote. Full results are below:

Bob McDonnell – 58.43%
Artur Davis – 23.6%
Bill Bolling – 10.11%
Other (write-ins):
* Bob Marshall – 4.5%
* Jerry Foreman – 1.1%
* Pro-life Tea Party Candidate – 1.1%
* Rightwing Wackjob – 1.1%

I would just like to remind potential candidates that fortune favors the bold. Did anyone think that a freshman U.S. Senator would defeat Hillary Clinton for the Dem nomination in 2008? (President Obama only ran that soon because former Sen. Majority Leader Tom Daschle, who had been planning to run, lost his reelection and then turned his entire political operation over to Obama.) You just never know when an economic crisis may arise or compromising photos from a Delaware beach house (just to give a hypothetical example) may surface and what once looked like an unwinnable race is yours for the taking.

    I would have liked it if Governor McDonnell ran for president. He’s a much better choice than Romney.

      That’s for sure………………Romney had baggage……….although McDonnell picked up some during the Presidential campaign………..

    Romney had no credibility –especially in playing the “pro-life” game ……………going in both directions…………..and keeping track of his lies from week-to-week…………i became increasingly disappointed with McDonnell as the campaign played out and eventually became Gov Ultrasound………..bottom line…..republicans have (had) no one!!!

    After hearing Artur Davis speak at the Advance, he’s my first choice to put up against Warner. There are plenty of potential good candidates to run against Gerry Connolly, which he’s been linked to in the past.

    So far, I dont see anyone beating Warner……….and especislly after McDonnell called for arming all teachers……..while on the subjetct, Wayne Lapierre makes me puke……….i wonder how many ied’s are mfg here………….he said all banks have guards……..dead wrong…….
