Massive Transportation Tax Increase Passes the Senate
The biggest tax increase in the history of Virginia, bill HB2313, has passed the Senate with a 25 to 15 vote. I will update this post with the names of the Senators on each side as soon as they are published.
This will be McDonnell’s legacy, a huge tax burden on Virginia families, including a sales tax increase to 6% in NOVA, a 20% increase.
More here.
How do YOU feel about McDonnell’s tax increase? Vote here.

Congratulations Bob McDonnell…………………you did what needed to be done…….an have turned your record into a positive sophisticated leader!!!
Ha. When a Democrat applauds a Republican for “doing the right thing” you know the Republican will be ejected by his own party, and neatly placed on the ash heap of has beens, which is exactly where McDonnell will find himself.
Yeah, and his career is over. Republicans won’t support McDonnell for dog catcher and democrats will still vote for a democrat.
+ 1,000 Hey, don’t insult dog catchers. by using his name in the same sentence. LOL
Riley- I miss your left hand side of the screen postings of the wrong votes placed by some Republicans, like Wagner, Watkins and Blevins. Would it be that the list has grown too long? Maybe you could just list those that have voted correctly. We know that list is much shorter after today.
McDonnell will never get my vote again for any office he runs for. If he’s up against an equally-bad Democrat who at least admits he’s/she’s a tax-and-spend liberal, I’ll just sit out that election.
Are our ‘leaders’ in Richmond completely unaware that tens of thousands of Virginians are facing federal layoffs in the next month? Do they really think those people can afford all of these additional tax burdens? Can people in northern Virginia afford a 20% increase in sales taxes when their salary is cut by
20% in two weeks? And when they’re laid off a month later? Don’t these people care AT ALL about families in Virginia?!!
LL, I made that very same point in a comment somewhere. The worst part of it is the Republicans are the ones that will get the blame as they were the ones in charge from the top down to the house. No kidding, I’m really wondering if McDonnell is looking to switch over to the Democrat party. I now have no doubt he will also shoot down Voter ID if it ever gets to him. Even if it doesn’t get to his desk, he will likely say that he would veto that bill should it pass.
Since Bolling seems to be switching to become a democrat, perhaps McDonnell’s going with him?
